Todd Spodek has offered public “advice” to Sean “Diddy” Combs and his legal team in an article published in The Spectator World on May 12, 2025.

According to his profile on NYC Criminal Attorneys, Spodek is a criminal defense attorney based in New York. He is well-known for representing Anna Sorokin, also known as Anna Delvey, the so-called “fake heiress” whose high-profile fraud trial inspired the Netflix series Inventing Anna.

As per the report published in The Spectator World, Spodek has not directly offered public advice to Combs. Instead, he provided commentary on Combs' legal situation, in an article titled, My advice to Diddy – by Anna Delvey’s attorney.

Reportedly, Combs is facing serious federal charges including sex trafficking, racketeering, and prostitution to which he has pleaded not guilty. According to a report in BBC, prosecutor Emily Johnson has accused the rapper of using his celebrity status and his employees to s*xually abuse women and run a criminal enterprise.

Spodek has drawn parallels between his defense of Sorokin and the legal and media landscape Diddy’s team must now navigate. He explained how in Anna Delvey's case he didn’t just defend her legally but also reframed her story for the jury.

"During Anna’s trial, I didn’t just defend her – I reframed her. I told the jury a story they understood: a young woman navigating New York’s cutthroat world by playing the game the way the city rewards."

He suggested Diddy’s defense will need a similar approach. Talking about how the two defences will be similar, he says,

"Here the playbook won’t be all that different. The case won’t be about whether his behavior was excessive – it’ll be about whether it was criminal."
