ABC soap opera General Hospital star, Tristan Rogers, was diagnosed with cancer as per a statement by his representative on Thursday, July 17, 2025, according to Fox News.

While the type of cancer is not disclosed, 79-year-old Rogers is working closely with his medical team on a treatment plan. The Australian actor is best known for playing the role of Robert Scorpio in the soap opera General Hospital and is considered one of the most beloved long-term stars of the series.

He is also known for his work in the 1970 police drama series, The Link Men, and the 1976 miniseries, Power Without Glory.

The news of Rogers' cancer diagnosis was confirmed by his representative in a statement:

''While he remains hopeful and is working closely with his medical team on a treatment plan, this is a challenging time for Tristan and his family. As they face both the emotional and physical burdens that come with this diagnosis, the family kindly asks for privacy and understanding. They are deeply grateful for the outpouring of support and love from their friends and family.''

The statement continues:

''Tristan sends his love to his fans and wants them to know how much he appreciates their loyalty and encouragement over the years. This support means more to him now than ever. Future updates will be shared if deemed appropriate by Tristan and his family.''

Rogers also worked in many other short stints, including the Australian soap operas The Box, Number 96, and Bellbird. He also appeared in British films, including the 1972 horror film The Flesh and Blood Show, and Four Dimensions of Greta..

Another well-known soap opera he worked on was The Young and the Restless, where he played the role of Colin Atkinson. He also appeared in the action-drama TV series Fast Track and the web series The Bay as Lex Martin. In 2019, he played Doc in the Amazon series Studio City.

In addition to acting, he also did voice work, which included voicing Jake the Kangaroo Mouse in The Rescuers Down Under and voicing a character in the 2015 video game, Mad Max. He also worked in the 1993 thriller film Night Eyes 3, the 2008 film Jack Rio, A Piece of Eden, and Delgo.

In 2020, he won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Digital Drama Series for his role as Doc on Studio City, and in 2023, he won the Indie Series Awards for Best Supporting Actor – Drama (Studio City).
