The 16 and Pregnant star, Whitney Purvis’s 16-year-old son, Weston Gosa Jr., died on June 2, 2025. Purvis announced the news on Monday, June 2, through a social media post. Sharing several pictures of her son, Purvis wrote on Facebook:

“He was so perfect. This is really my worst nightmare come true. How do you go on in life after losing a child? I'm in disbelief, this cannot be happening. I don't want it to be real. I would do anything just to hold him. Words just can't describe the pain I am feeling.”

She ended her message by saying,

“I love you so much, Weston Owen Gosa. God, I love you so much. You are my heart. I was so proud of the young man you were becoming. I just can't go on without you. Rest in Peace, my angel. You are gone too soon. April 2, 2009 - June 2, 2025.”

According to TMZ, Weston had a number of medical issues, including diabetes, but the exact cause of his death has not been revealed yet. He was born to Whitney Purvis and her then-boyfriend, Weston Gosa, in 2009.

Weston appeared on the 16 and Pregnant’s debut season alongside Whitney Purvis, who was pregnant at that time. They share another son named River, who was born in 2014, per People magazine.

Whitney Purvis is famous for her appearance on the first season of MTV’s reality show 16 and Pregnant in 2009. The show documented the journey of the then-teenage mom and the struggles she faced during her pregnancy and the birth of her son, Weston Gosa Jr.

According to a report in the People magazine, Weston Gosa Jr. was born on April 2, 2009, to Purvis and her then-boyfriend Weston Gosa Sr during the show’s first season. After his birth, the couple split briefly, but they rekindled their relationship before welcoming their second son, River, in 2014. Their relationship suffered again, and they went their separate ways.

In recent years, Purvis faced some legal troubles and was put behind bars in 2024 for failing to pay child support. She eventually lost the custody of both of her sons, Weston Jr. and River.

According to a report in TMZ, in 2024, Purvis was ordered to pay an additional $20/per month to cover the back support while still paying her current monthly obligation of $353/per month. In 2012, she was arrested for allegedly shoplifting a pregnancy test from a Walmart. She has also been booked for attacking her former boyfriend with a broom and for making alleged threats against him.

The report further added that Whitney Purvis welcomed her third child, Collin Adonis in 2023.

Describing her stepson’s death, Weston Jr.’s stepmother, Amy Gosa, who is now married to Weston Gosa, explained that the family woke up around 7 a.m. and found Weston not breathing.

She added that they had ordered an autopsy to learn about the cause of Weston Jr,’s death.
