Who is Zeethewizard? Dallas rapper dead at 25 after reported New Year

ZeeTheWizard, also known as Zec'Quire Cannon Grant Fields or Zecquire Fields, died at the age of 25 after being caught up in a New Year's Day nightclub shooting. According to the Dallas Police Department report, the shooting occurred at the Pink House nightclub on Empire Central, and multiple people were shot:

"On January 1, 2026, at approximately 3:45 a.m., Dallas Police responded to a shooting call on Empire Central near Northbound North Stemmons Freeway. The preliminary investigation determined multiple individuals were shot at the location during an altercation. Dallas Fire-Rescue responded and transported 5 victims to a local hospital."

The report goes on:

"One victim, later identified as 25-year-old Zecqurie Fields, was transported in critical condition and died on January 5, 2026. This ongoing investigation will be documented under case number 000112-2026."

As per CBS, the New Year's Day event, which the rapper was attending, was the nightclub's inaugural night. Pink House is a strip club and is located at the same location as Club Safari Dallas.

ZeeTheWizard was an upcoming rapper. He came from Oath Cliff in Texas and, as per Billboard, was part of a movement of Dallas rappers who came together to promote positivity over violence, with other members including Zillionaire Doe, HeadHuncho Amir, and Montana 700. The rapper also had a cordial relationship with BigXthaPlug.

He was signed on to Future's Freebandz label in 2025. He is known for songs such as Boss Ni**a, Real As They Came, Anticap Music, and so on. He started putting out music back in 2024. He collaborated with the likes of B.Rob, KevanGotBandz, Yung Donn BLR, LoJack3, and Himothy Chung, as well as Brob53. He also collaborated with TG Lil Zae.


Tributes paid to ZeeTheWizard

ZeeTheWizard's sister posted about his death in a statement. Parts of the statement are quoted here as reported by the Dallas Observer:

"Zee was more than an artist. He was a light. He consistently encouraged people to stay positive, keep going, and choose hope even when life gets heavy."

The statement continued:

"While we are devastated by this loss, we ask everyone who loved him to help carry that message forward, not only through his music, but through the way you treat each other, the way you show up for your people, and the way you choose love."

She talked about how he will be remembered and that his legacy will be carried on by every person he inspired in his life. She asked people to respect the privacy of their family and not to contact family members during the difficult time of grieving. The tribute statement also stated that the service for the rapper and funeral arrangements will be announced in the near future.

ZeeTheWizard also received a tribute from Head Honcho Amir, as well as Corey Borner. There have also been tributes from rapper Zillionaire Doe, as well as netizens online.

ZeeTheWizard was not the only one who was shot. However, the condition of the other people who were shot in the incident has not been revealed as of the writing of this article.

The Dallas Police Department has also issued a further statement discouraging the spread of misinformation and has encouraged the general public to rely on the official statements made by the department and its officials over online speculations.
