Popular American actress Amanda Seyfried, known for her roles in Mean Girls, Mamma Mia!, and Jennifer's Body, is reflecting on her life in her farmhouse. In a recent interview with Vogue magazine, which was published on Thursday, the actress who turned 40 last December described her life in her upstate New York farmhouse, where she cares for different animals, including horses, chickens, cats, goats, donkeys, ducks and dogs.

According to the actress, living on a farm and becoming involved with animal rescue had always been a dream.

"When I say it’s a rescue, it’s fully a rescue—it’s my dream."

Amanda Seyfried runs the farm with her actor husband, Thomas Sadoski, and their two children, eight-year-old Nina and five-year-old Thomas. She told the magazine that she also receives help from one trusted caretaker who lives nearby and enjoys receiving gifts of cream colored little eggs.

Having a farm is not all sweet and fresh; the actress shared some of the harsh realities she faces on her farm. She told Vogue about how some of her animas "got eaten the other night—it was probably a fox" and how several face different problems.

"One [cat] is so old and decrepit that he just has diarrhea all the time, but he still purrs when he eats."

She added that the animals "usually come with problems, or they’re really old, or they’re lame, or whatever."

In addition to speaking about her life on the farm, Amanda Seyfried also opened up about how she manages her time as a mother and an actress and how it wasn't easy seeing her children grow up so fast.

"He's in kindergarten, she's in third grade, and their classrooms just happened to be next to each other this year…. I want to bottle it up."

The actress told Vogue that she tried to explain to her kids about the kind of work she does and why she might not be around all the time.

"My world's moving so fast, and there are so many things I have to do each day, and there’s no way I can express what I'm doing. I just make very clear every day: 'I really would rather be home with you.'"

At the same time, Amanda Seyfried wants them to understand that she loves and enjoys her work.

"I’m having a great time, right? It’s not painful suffering."

Amanda shared that her husband, who is also an acclaimed actor, has made a lot of sacrifices for her.

"[He] sacrifices a lot for me. He also knows that, in this moment, the opportunities I’m being afforded are insane."

However, the In Time actress told the news outlet that she rejects a lot of roles too: "I do say no a lot."
