Hilary Duff recently admitted that she was intimidated by her 2004 A Cinderella Story co-star Jennifer Coolidge. During her recent Variety interview, the singer and actress shared that Coolidge was almost always in character and was just as mean to her as her character was in the film.“By the way, it’s just so much fun to watch her career. She just goes there in such a big way that it was really impressive and slightly intimidating as a teenager,” Duff said during the interview. She continued:“And she was mean to me, so it was a little scary, ’cause I was only like 15 and she was just, you know, mean to me ’cause she’s my evil stepmother. At the time, I was like … I had to be like, ‘You’re filming a movie. You’re filming a movie.”This wasn't the first time Hilary Duff has shared her opinion about Jennifer Coolidge. In 2023, the actress excitedly praised Jeniffer during her appearance on “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.” She said:“I can’t even begin to tell you how much I’ve just been, like, obsessed with this past year for Jennifer Coolidge. It’s been really cool to see.”She continued:“My favorite moment was her rubbing salmon on her face while filming A Cinderella Story and talking about the omegas. My son actually started eating sushi when he was like 3, and he had a similar moment, and I looked and was like, ‘You’re just rubbing raw salmon on your face.’ And it’s, like, soft, and he liked it, then it reminded me of her. She’s just everything.”More details on Hilary Duff’s Variety interviewHilary Duff gave an exclusive interview to Variety, which was posted on YouTube on November 24, 2025.
