Ebro Darden’s Ebro in the Morning show was canceled by Hot 97 after 13 years. While the radio channel itself has not provided any official reason as to why it was canceled so far, Ebro himself has suggested that the reason for the cancellation may be due to his progressive views and his criticism of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu:

"Listen man, I don't capitulate well, bro. Been doing this too long. You look around all the major media outlets... they all gotta fold up cause they all trying to renew their deals, their licenses...bro's a casino owner. You know those three licenses that they got here in New York City for the casinos."

The show host continued:

"The guy that owns the sh*t owns one of the casinos. Licenses. He gotta raise half a million dollars bro. Half a billion, excuse me. They need my sh-t talking, anti-Netanyahu, anti-government, progressive sh-t out of the way..."

After the initial announcement of the cancellation of the show by Ebro Darden on December 12, 2025, Drake responded to the tweet with an axe emoji. Darden has been critical of the Canadian rapper in the past.

Now, Peter Rosenberg and Ebro Darden have both responded to Drake’s comment on the cancellation post. Ebro Darden stated in his X post:

"Drake is “right wing” and so is AK."

Peter Rosenberg meanwhile stated:

"It's behavior like this that has made it impossible for people to defend the wack sh*t that he does ... But happy Hanukkah my one time pal .. I truly wish you well even if you're celebrating what you believe is our demise (spoiler alert -- we're about to be much bigger now that we won't be held back by a company that is and has been completely lost ever since they bought the station!)"

Ebro Darden has been critical of Hot 97's new owners

Ebro Darden has been critical of Hot 97’s new owners even before the cancellation of his show. In September 2025, Darden responded to Funkmaster Flex’s cryptic announcement about starting a new show, stating in a rant:

"I been telling y'all for months, years that the new ownership of the big legend, Hot 97, didn't give a damn about investing in this damn thing here. No new studios, making cuts, cutting staff, cutting this, cutting that."

The show host continued:

"Then, I hear last Thursday Flex started tweeting about his last show, that they're keeping our show on 'til 11:00. I didn't get an email, a text, I didn't get nothing."

It has now been confirmed that Flex will take the spot previously occupied by the canceled show. Ebro in the Morning first started back in 2012. The show launched after the host returned to the morning slot, which he had previously held from 2004 to 2007.

The show host is also known for his self-titled show on Apple Music, as well as for being the Global Editorial Head of Hip-Hop and R&B for Apple Music. Darden started his career in the early 1990s at KSFM in Sacramento, California.

He later went on to become the station manager for KBMB and also co-hosted morning shows at KXJM in Portland, Oregon. He became the music director of WQHT (Hot 97) in 2003 and was named station director in 2007.
