Popular American professional football cornerback Marshon Lattimore, who currently plays for the Washington Commanders of the NFL, recently had a run in with the law. The 29-year-old athlete made news headlines after he was arrested on Wednesday in suburban Cleveland. Reports claim that he was arrested after he was caught carrying a concealed weapon and improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle.

Marshon Lattimore was booked on two charges: carrying a concealed weapon and improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle. Marshon who didn't inform the law enforcement officers that he was in possession of a firearm was cuffed, taken into custody and had his mugshot taken. He was later released without having to post bond. It hasn't been revealed whether the case will be pursued as a misdemeanor or elevated further; however, it is set to proceed through the local court system.

The Commanders issued a short statement:

"We have been made aware of the arrest and are gathering more information. We have informed the NFL League office and have no further comment at this time."

No additional details have been released about the case so far, but a police report lists a 9mm Glock as evidence.

Marshon Lattimore was traded to the Washington Commanders

In November 2024, Marshon Lattimore was traded to the Washington Commanders after spending seven seasons with the New Orleans Saints. The cornerback was traded to Washington in exchange for round picks in the 2025 draft. When asked in an interview about the trade, Marshon Lattimore answered honestly:

"I'd be lying if I said it didn't. They traded me away. I'm going back to show them why they shouldn't have. I'm happy where I'm at, but you know how it is. Extra motivation for the game, that's all."

He continued, expressing his intention to prove himself again and ensuring his team wins.

"I just want to be, if not the best, one of the best on the field, you know, just show everybody. That's really it. I want to help my team win."

Adding:

"That's what I'm going into the game thinking: Be the best I can be, and try to be the best on the field so we can win."
