Nicki Minaj has been in the news headlines for days following her speech at a UN event on Tuesday, November 18, 2025. The Anaconda rapper recently reshared a picture from the event, where she posed with others. The original post was made by Sean Nelson. He captioned the photo:

“The International Coalition of #Barbz Against the Persecution of Christians in Nigeria. We're going to stop this.”

Nicki Minaj reposted the picture and shared a funny backstory from the event. She joked about her height in the picture and revealed she wasn't wearing her heels because her feet started hurting.

She wrote:

“Wish I had put my shoes back on for this one. To the lady who let me wear her slides when my feet started hurting, THANK YOU!!! You were the Real MVP that day.”

On Tuesday, Nicki Minaj, alongside Michael Waltz, the United States ambassador to the United Nations, gave a speech titled ‘Combating Religious Violence and the Killing of Christians in Nigeria.’ The rapper described the security issues plaguing Nigeria as a global problem that undermines freedom of belief and worship.

She said:

“It is an honor to stand on this stage with you and the other distinguished speakers here today to shine a spotlight on the deadly threat faced by thousands of Christians in Nigeria.”

She continued:

“No group should ever be persecuted for practicing their religion, like I recently stated on social media. And we don't have to share the same beliefs in order for us to respect each other,” she added. “We are way beyond thinking or expecting or assuming for the person sitting next to you to have the exact same beliefs. We're beyond that. That's ridiculous. But that shouldn't make one person feel less safe than anyone in any room.

Nicki Minaj spoke about the alleged killings of Christians in Nigeria and called for action.

“In Nigeria, Christians are being targeted, driven from their homes, and killed. Churches have been burned, families have been torn apart, and entire communities live in fear constantly, simply because of how they pray.”

She added:

“Sadly, this problem is not only a growing problem in Nigeria, but also in so many other countries across the world. And it demands urgent action.”

She made her stance clear, explaining that she wasn't taking sides but rather uniting humanity.

“And I want to be clear, protecting Christians in Nigeria is not about taking sides or dividing people. It is about uniting humanity. Nigeria is a beautiful nation with deep faith traditions and lots of beautiful Barbz that I can't wait to see.”
