Why was Thomas Davis’ estranged wife Kelly Davis arrested? Charges explored

Thomas Davis' wife, Kelly Davis, was arrested on September 3, because she allegedly hit a woman whom she thought was s*xually involved with her husband. According to Kelly's attorney via TMZ Sports, the allegations against the footballer's wife are "false". However, court documents from the alleged victim say something else.

The woman who was allegedly involved with Thomas Davis has been recognized as Laura Watterson, a chiropractor. The supposed assault was reported to have happened last month, on the 26th, when Watterson was in her office at Charlotte, N.C., with a patient.

The documents state that Mrs. Davis was screaming at Laura before she was asked to leave. Before leaving, Davis punched Watterson in the chest. According to Laura's words from the documents, she wrote:

"As I tried to guide her out the door of my office, she hit me and knocked my glasses off then hit me again on the other side of the head."

Kelly Davis has been charged with one count of misdemeanor assault and battery. However, her attorney spoke to TMZ Sports, saying:

"We believe completely in Kelly's innocence and we look forward to challenging the false allegations once we have a court date."

How did Kelly Davis and Thomas Davis meet?

Years ago, during an interview, Kelly Davis shared how she and her husband, Thomas Davis, met. She explained:

"We met in the parking lot of the old South End Brewery, in Charlotte one night after a party through a mutual friend just after he was drafted to the North Carolina Panthers... We instantly knew we were meant to be together and became best friends."

Both Kelly and Thomas already had children from previous relationships at the time. She proceeded to explain what drew her to Davis:

"When I met Thomas I didn't even know he was a football player for a few days... was attracted to his openness about having a young son and also his attentiveness to my situation of being a young mom, in college and working full time."

The pair dated each other for three years before deciding to tie the knot in 2008. Kelly also shared how Thomas decided to propose. She said:

"He gave me my graduation gift and I looked and it was a large Nike duffle bag... I was like okayyy, I could use a duffle... He told me to open the bag and at the bottom was the ring and when I looked back at him he was down on one knee in front of all my family and closest friends."

The couple decided to get married on Thomas Davis' 26th birthday. She continued:

"He was very adamant about being married on his birthday because he said it was an important day to him... I'm thinking it was so he would never forget our anniversary," she joked.

Fast forward to this year, according to a civil case filed by Kelly Davis in February, she said that they decided to split in March last year. The reason behind the split is that her husband was:

"engaged in illicit sexual conduct with at least six women other then her during their marriage."

Kelly Davis' arrest has added another complication to the already-strained relationship with her estranged husband. While her attorney insists the allegations are false, the case will ultimately be determined in court.
