Wicked: For Good – Prime subscribers can watch the screening early, details revealed

Good news, Prime Video subscribers: you can watch Wicked: For Good, the sequel to the 2024 Jon M. Chu musical, four days early if you want. This announcement comes from Amazon, which partnered with Universal Pictures to bring this deal to fans. The announcement reads,

"Prime members will soon be able to buy tickets to see Wicked: For Good on November 17, four days before the film’s wider release on November 21, in select theaters across the U.S. through Fandango."

The film will continue the story from the events of the 2024 film, where Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, and Jeff Goldblum will reprise their roles as Elphaba Thropp, Glinda Upland, and the Wonderful Wizard of Oz, respectively. More characters will also return alongside them. Following the release of Wicked last year, it was nominated for ten Oscars and won two. It was a huge success at the global box office, earning $756 million worldwide.

Wicked: For Good will serve as the conclusion to this story about Elphaba Thropp and Glinda Upland, who will now be known as the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good.

We will see Glinda and Elphaba as the main focus of the upcoming film, but there is one character who will appear, and we don't know who will play her. It's Dorothy Gale, one of the main protagonists in Frank Baum's Oz stories.

The character is most famously portrayed by Judy Garland in the 1939 film adaptation of Baum's 1900 novel, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. To this day, it is considered one of the greatest movies of all time. According to online conversations, Alisha Weir, star of Matilda the Musical (2022) and Abigail (2024), is a fan favorite.

Universal Pictures released the trailer for the upcoming movie about three months ago, giving us a glimpse of the saga's conclusion. We also see the famous group of Dorothy Gale, Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Cowardly Lion, who are being forced to retrieve the broom of the Wicked Witch of the West. However, we only see their backs, so we can only expect more reveals in another trailer or in the movie.

The upcoming movie will explore the relationship between Glinda and Elphaba, but will focus more on the latter, as everyone will be searching for her after the events of the first film. However, based on what was shown in the trailer, they are still best friends, and Glinda will somehow help her through all this chaos.

Although this will serve as a conclusion to a two-part saga, Stephen Schwartz and Winnie Holzman have mentioned there could be potential films related to the story. But they probably won't put Elphaba and Glinda at the center of future projects' core.
