Recently, it was reported that the studio is planning to make a prequel focusing on Aunt Gladys character. Let's find out if Amy Madigan will reprise this role.
Amy Madigan reveals if she will return as Gladys in Weapons prequel
There have been talks lately that Warner Bros. is planning on doing a Weapons prequel, which will explore the character of Gladys. Amy Madigan, who has played the character, spoke to ET about whether she will return for the prequel or not. She said,
“I used a lot of different bits of information, but I wouldn’t say it’s one or the other. I think it’s a combination of a lot of things. People ask that question, ‘Is she real or is it this or that?’ I said, ‘Good, you guys figure it out ’cause I can’t answer that.'”
She further added,
“It’s not that I discount it, but in this business, nothing’s real till it’s real. I just had such a great time working with Zach and being inside that brain of his. That’s really the gift of how the movie came out. The other stuff has to do with all sorts of conversations that I would never be privy in and business things like that. But, you know, I love Gladys, so I’ll leave it at that.”
The actress stated that she loved the character and that hints that she may be open to returning as Gladys.
Earlier, it was reported that New Line Cinema wants to do a prequel after the critical and commercial success of Weapons. There has been no confirmation from Zach Cregger's side.
Weapons are produced by Cregger, Miri Yoon, Roy Lee, Raphael Margules, and J. D. Lifshitz. Its cast members include
- Josh Brolin as Archer Graff
- Julia Garner as Justine Gandy
- June Diane Raphael as Donna Morgan
- Cary Christopher as Alex Lilly
- Justin Long as Gary
- Alden Ehrenreich as Paul Morgan
- Whitmer Thomas as Mr. Lilly
- Austin Abrams as James
- Sara Paxton as Erica
- Benedict Wong as Marcus Miller

The film met with a positive critical response and grossed $108 million at the box office. Cregger had his tryst with the horror genre in 2022 when he wrote and directed Barbarian, which was also a critical and commercial success.
He is currently working on a reboot of the Resident Evil film for Sony. Based on the namesake horror video game, the film is expected to be released in 2026. Cregger has stated that the film will have its own story while adhering to the source material and its characters.
