James Gunn is gearing up for the release of DCU's Superman, which introduces David Corenswet as the new son of Krypton. The DC fans must be excited to see a bright and seemingly optimistic chapter in the universe.

As it happens, the fans can't help but recall Gunn's stint at the MCU, working on all the Guardians of the Galaxy movies. It was led by the Parks and Recreation star Chris Pratt, who played the goofball Star-Lord. Some fans hope to see Pratt in one of Gunn's upcoming DCU projects. That's why, in a recent conversation, Gunn was asked if Pratt would be in his new cinematic universe. Here's what the director told ComicBook.com,

“Listen, Chris Pratt is still one of my closest friends in the world and I am always looking for something for him. But also … the others, too. I mean he and Pom [Klementieff] are the ones that I see the most, and I’m the closest with and [Michael] Rooker. So I’m always looking for stuff.”

Gunn refers to two other actors who worked on his MCU projects: Pom Klementieff, who played Mantis, and Michael Rooker, who played Yondu Udonta. He does not offer any definitive update about their or Pratt's appearance in the DCU projects. However, he reveals that he is still friends with them. This is not the first time Gunn has spoken about Pratt's potential appearance in the DCU.

Will Chris Pratt join James Gunn's DCU? The past comments explored

Before sharing his detailed response about this topic, James Gunn shared an optimistic update during an interaction on Threads. In September 2024, a fan asked Gunn,

"There’s a rumor that you and Pratt have had talks about him joining the DCU."

Gunn responded, saying,

"He’s a close friend. We talk about that all the time."

Shortly before, Gunn had shared a photo on his social media that showed him on the set of Superman. Pratt was also a part of that behind-the-scenes picture. While Pratt is not a part of the Superman cast, his fans are hoping to see him in a DC project. They have been speculating on which DC universe character Pratt can play. Their suggestions include Booster Gold, Max Lord, Kite Man, Steve Lombard, and Captain Atom, among others.

Apart from Gunn, Pratt has also shared his interest in being a part of the newly established DC universe. In June 2024, Pratt reportedly told TMZ,

“I just have to leave that to the fans and people like James to decide. I’m not exactly sure. I’m truly not sure."

He further added,

“If it could fit into my schedule and it made sense, I would love it. Of course I love playing Star-Lord, and hopefully there’s a chance that can come back. I just feel so blessed to be able to do any of it, to be considered for any of it. If it’s right and the fans would love it, I’d be more than happy to do it.”
