Miles Morales' Spider-Verse trilogy finale was initially set for a 2024 release but the Sony Marvel film later got indefinitely delayed because of a production shake-up. However, the latest update has revealed that Sony is not planning to release Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse anytime in 2025.
As per reports by Deadline, Sony is 'taking a lot of tender loving care' to give the perfect conclusion to Morale's action-adventure saga. Earlier this year, there were rumors about the movie's release being postponed till 2027.
However, producer Christopher Miller has refuted the same. The first two movies - Into the Spider-Verse and Across the Spider-Verse were commercial hits and the story will continue in the third installment of the animated saga.
Will Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse not be released in 2025?
According to the latest reports, Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse will not get a release window in 2025. When Star Jharrel Jerome was asked about his work on the threequel, he reportedly said in a statement:
"I haven't recorded anything, but I also can't really say so much more because, you know, that's such a tight-knit ship. I don't even know much. I'm as much in the dark as you, but I'm excited to get back into it and see what they're thinking, especially involving my character. That was such a badass twist to the last one."
Moreover, Spider-Verse star Jake Johnson reportedly said on the ReelBlend podcast in early 2024:
"Nothing. Well, I will say, I can’t say anything about (the release date), but I will say with recording of actors, things can go fast. So, my not recording truly means nothing. If you find out the animators hadn’t started animating, then that’s a different thing. But there’s really no breaking news from a voiceover actor. Even if we try to break it. If they wanted to… like I did a movie for Wildwood Studios. I might be saying that wrong. If I am, I feel embarrassed. But I recorded my entire role in one day."
In August, his co-star Karan Soni has reportedly mentioned in a statement:
"We're going to start recording for that one in a few months."
Considering that voice recordings have not started yet, a 2025 release window is highly unlikely as of now. Production has been delayed but it will supposedly not take till 2027 for the movie to hit the theatres
What does this mean for Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse?
Following all the statements from various actors of the franchise, there has been a lot of social media tumult. This is because the film went into production long back and viewers have been eagerly waiting for the final spin-off.
However, after the rumors about the movie's delay till 2027 were mentioned as inaccurate by Producer Christopher Miller, Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse will likely get a 2026 release window. Furthermore, producers have mentioned that the film will get a release window once the story is fully ready and production needs to "take the time it takes to make it great".
