Will Thunderbolts* get a sequel? Here's what we know so far
The anticipation of a sequel to Thunderbolts* could be rising, especially after it has been so well received by the critics and audiences alike.
Even though there has been no news about its sequel, there still could be a high chance for this film to be further built into a franchise. As per the usual Marvel tradition, the makers announce the sequel of a successful film after some time has passed since its release, and at a time when all the film's publicity recedes.
The film's commercial performance could also be an imperative factor to consider by the makers about whether or not a sequel would be made. Going by its financial performance at its start, it seems that the film might end up a huge success after all. The budget of the film has been around 180 million, as per Deadline, so if this film surpasses its budget mark, it would be a win-win situation.
If at all a sequel of Thunderbolts* is made, it seems like the cast will not be completely the same as the film. At the beginning of the film, when the group is brought together and pitted against each other by Valentina, Taskmaster, a.k.a Antonia Dreykov, dies at the hands of Ghost. So in the sequel, the cast might be without Olga Kurylenko's character, Taskmaster.
Also, it will be interesting to witness what shape the villainous character of Julia-Louis Dreyfus's Valentina takes in its sequel. Towards the end, the team comes together and attempts to detain Valentina, but as usual, she uses her trickery to maneuver the public opinion. She relaunches the squad to the public as the "New Avengers". So, along with her character arc, how the group finally overthrows her is something to be anticipated as well.
In Marvel's highly anticipated forthcoming film, Avengers: Doomsday, the Thunderbolts* squad shall be back as well. But without Olga Kurylenko and Julia-Louis Dreyfus.
