With less than a month to release, fans get a new poster for Freakier Friday

As Freakier Friday nears its release date, an exclusive poster from Fandango is giving fans another look at the highly anticipated sequel, starring Lindsey Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis. The new poster shows Curtis and Lindsay Lohan looking shocked, with wide eyes and mouths slightly open, and with the classic Freaky Friday energy. The background is a kaleidoscope of their faces: kind of dreamy, chaotic, and fitting the vibe of the film.

The poster is laced with rainbow lens flare, giving it that updated, Gen Z-core remix of a Y2K classic. It is also stamped with the Fandango logo, opening the doors for pre-booking.

Freakier Friday is bringing the chaos back this time with even more people swapping lives. Hitting theaters on August 8, 2025, the sequel brings back Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan as mother-daughter duo Tess and Anna Coleman. But now, Anna has a teenage daughter of her own, Harper, and a soon-to-be stepdaughter, Lily. Naturally, all four of them get body-swapped thanks to a mysterious palm reading at the same Chinese restaurant where it all began.

The film is directed by Nisha Ganatra, and Mark Harmon, Chad Michael Murray, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, and Stephen Tobolowsky are returning. New faces include Julia Butters, Sophia Hammons, Manny Jacinto, and Maitreyi Ramakrishnan. Filming took place in L.A. through Summer 2024, and the teaser has already excited fans.

The first movie hit all the right notes, and with this sequel diving into blended families and generational gaps, Freakier Friday seems ready to serve both nostalgia and something new. If you loved the 2003 original, this one will probably feel like a chaotic, hilarious hug from your past.

What was Freaky Friday about?

After a fight at a Chinese restaurant, a pair of mysterious fortune cookies turns their world upside down. Literally. The morning after, they wake up in each other's bodies, and nothing prepares them for the battle ahead. Tess has to deal with high school cliques, band auditions, and teenage hormones. Anna, meanwhile, is suddenly in charge of running a business, doing therapy sessions, and planning her mom’s wedding.

The film is iconic for its slapstick comedy, drama, and themes of mother-daughter relationships that it boldly explores. Years later, it has become a cult classic that defined the Disney era, and the sequel is all set to be one of the biggest films of the year.
