Avengers: Endgame was more like a cultural event than just a film release. Most of us were going in groups with our friends or families to watch this spectacle on the big screen because we knew it was the end of a storyline that had been running for several years.
Directed by the Russo brothers, the 22nd MCU film was released on April 26, 2019. Here's the official synopsis:
"After the devastating events of Avengers: Infinity War (2018), the universe is in ruins. With the help of remaining allies, the Avengers assemble once more in order to reverse Thanos' actions and restore balance to the universe."
But I have a beef with Marvel because of several deleted scenes they have left on the table.
Avengers: Endgame deleted scenes that I feel would have made the film better
Avengers: Endgame is a film from the MCU that most people can agree on for its quality. I was one of those who went to the theatre to enjoy it on the big screen, as we were really curious to find out how Thanos would be stopped. Recently, after several years, I discovered that Marvel deleted several scenes from the film, possibly to cut its length and make it leaner.
But after coming across those particular scenes, I hate how they feel like a missed opportunity and would have made the film even better if included in the final cut.
In the film, Iron Man snaps and dies because of it. We then cut to Tony Stark's funeral. But in the deleted scene, Tony enters the Soul Stone world after the snap, just like Thanos. There, he witnesses an elder version of his daughter, Morgan. This is established initially with a small tent placed nearby. It's the same tent in which the father-daughter duo would play. Tony is scared that she would hate him because he left her. But Morgan tells him that she never blamed him.
The second deleted scene involves Tony's death as we see all the superheroes kneeling on the ground to honor him right after his sacrifice. Captain America almost collapses as he tries to kneel, despite being one of the strongest. This showcases that he is deeply affected by Tony's death. Gamora quietly walks away as everyone is mourning the death, as she is not aware of these folks because of the timeline.
Besides these emotionally heavy scenes, the studio also removed two hilarious scenes from Avengers: Endgame. While one features Rocket roasting the superheroes, the other one has James Rhodes questioning Captain America's intelligence.
Now imagine if all these scenes were a part of the final cut. Even though it would have been a slightly longer film, the end result would have been better, especially given how the scenes would further enrich the emotional moments.
Avengers: Endgame was written by Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus, while Kevin Feige was the producer. The film is a direct sequel to 2018's Infinity War and showcases the superheroes trying to reverse the actions of Thanos, which caused half of the universe's population to disappear. The cast includes Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, and Chris Hemsworth, among others.
