Lionsgate and Fathom Entertainment shared a cryptic post on their social media about The Twilight Saga, teasing an event this October. Letterboxd shared the same photo and revealed an exciting update.
According to Letterboxd and FilmUpdates, The Twilight Saga will return to theaters in October 2025, offering viewers another chance to catch these romantic fantasy movies and to decide whether they are on Team Edward, Team Jacob, or Team Switzerland. It will be something of a Sophie's choice for the franchise's fans, who have grown up watching these movies.
The series, based on Stephenie Meyer's vampire fantasy novels, began in 2008 with a film starring Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner as Bella Swan, Edward Cullen, and Jacob Black, respectively. While not critically acclaimed, the movies proved commercially lucrative for Summit Entertainment, which held the distribution rights to the franchise.
The Twilight Saga was a big part of the late 2000s' pop culture
Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings began in the early 2000s and offered a framework for the fantasy narratives. Later, The Chronicles of Narnia was adapted into a film series, followed by Stephenie Meyer's novels. They offered different ways for the genre to be expanded into blockbuster storytelling, catering to different kinds of audiences.
Unlike other adaptations, the vampire fantasy romance adaptations of Stephenie Meyer's books didn't receive unanimous praise from critics. Still, they received love and appreciation from devoted fans, who still can't get enough of this franchise's bleak and mysterious storytelling, as well as the performances by its central cast.
As said earlier, the vampire fantasy franchise has been commercially successful since its inception. The first movie, released in 2008, earned over $408 million against its $37 million budget. The series continued its successful streak with the latter adaptations, with the second film, The Twilight Saga: New Moon, earning over $711 million against its $50 million budget.
The third franchise installment, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, grossed over $698 million, nearly 10 times its reported budget of $68 million. Later, the franchise's conclusion proved to be just as successful, with The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 (2011) crossing the $712 million mark against a $110 million budget, while The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 (2012) earned over $848 million against a $120 million budget.
What are the Twilight stars working on now?

Kristen Stewart, who played Bella Swan, branched out of blockbuster storytelling to work on different kinds of projects. In 2014, she starred in Olivier Assayas' Clouds of Sils Maria, which earned her a Cesar award, considered to be a French equivalent of the Oscars. Stewart became the first American to win this award.
In 2022, Stewart was nominated for an Oscar for her performance in Pablo Larraín's Spencer. She will soon return with her directorial debut, The Chronology of Water, which was highly praised upon its Cannes premiere.
Robert Pattinson recently starred in Mickey 17, director Bong Joon-ho's follow-up to his classic social satire, Parasite. After this, Pattinson will return to the screens as Jackson in Lynne Ramsay's Die My Love, alongside Jennifer Lawrence. He is slated to star in Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, Matt Reeves' The Batman: Part II, and Kristoffer Borgli's The Drama.

Since the end of the vampire fantasy franchise, Taylor Lautner has been a part of shows like Scream Queens and Cuckoo. In 2022, he starred in Netflix's comedy-drama, Home Team, alongside Kevin James and Rob Schneider. He is slated to star in a rom-com, The Token Groomsman, alongside the Modern Family star Sarah Hyland.
