F1, the sports drama film directed by Joseph Kosinski, was released in theaters on 27th June 2025. So far, the film has generated over $500 million in revenue globally. But it did not get to stay in IMAX theaters too long, due to other films releasing right after.

Thus, if one wasn't fast enough, they might have missed out on getting to watch the film in IMAX. If you missed out on the opportunity as well, do not worry because, as Deadline reported, the film will be rereleased in IMAX theaters due to popular demand on 8th August 2025.

F1 re-releasing in IMAX

F1 follows the story of Formula One race driver Sonny Hayes (played by Brad Pitt), who returns to the sport after three decades to save his former teammate, Ruben Cervantes' (played by Javier Bardem) current team APXGP from failure.

After popular public demand and the film generating over $500 million in revenue, IMAX CEO Rich Gelfond told Deadline that F1 is rereleasing in IMAX theaters on 8th August 2025. Gelfond also told Deadline that this success is a

“a strong indicator of our momentum, as our exhibition partners worldwide are clearly looking to capitalize on our surging share of the global box office,”

One thing to keep in mind is that many films nowadays are being filmed especially for IMAX, including this year's Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, Sinners, and F1. This has helped F1 generate 10% of the total revenue through its IMAX screenings. Besides, it has also increased sales for IMAX and helped them generate more revenue in the first six months of 2025 than they did in the entirety of 2024.

Gelfond also mentioned what exactly made this success happen, stating,

“key drivers of our business worked in concert, with strong network growth worldwide, record box office in North America, and impressive market share gains driven by more releases filmed with our technology than ever,”

He continued,

“The fundamentals of our business are strong, the strength and impact of our brand across the entertainment landscape has reached new highs, and we have tremendous runway with a strong slate and network growth prospects ahead.”

The film has been written by Ehren Kruger and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, Joseph Kosinski, Lewis Hamilton, Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, and Chad Oman. F1 has been collaboratively produced by Apple Studios, Jerry Bruckheimer Films, Plan B Entertainment, Monolith Pictures, and Dawn Apollo Films.
