"You cannot compare a photo of me from when I was 12": Sydney Sweeney shuts down cosmetic surgery speculation

Sydney Sweeney has broken her silence about the online scrutiny of her appearance and the speculation about whether the actress has undergone cosmetic work. The star is known for notable roles in Euphoria, The White Lotus, and Immaculate.

She has publicly addressed conversations about her face multiple times previously. However, for a recent interview with Allure, Sydney Sweeney said,

"Let's debunk them all. I mean, I have never gotten work done. I am so scared of needles, you have no idea. You cannot compare a photo of me from when I was 12 to a photo of me at 26 with professional makeup and lighting! Of course I am going to look different."

The Euphoria star added:

"Everybody on social media is insane."

Amanda Seyfried also weighed in as Sydney Sweeney addressed speculation

Sydney Sweeney's The Housemaid co-star Amanda Seyfried stated:

"You gotta call me, and I will give you a little bit of Ativan, and you will be so excited. But you don't need it yet."

Sweeney replied,

"No, also if I did, you guys, my face would be even."

Seyfried asked:

"Not necessarily. What do you mean, 'even?' Is it uneven?"

Sweeney then said that one of her eyes "opens a little more than the other." Seyfried replied:

"I still don't see it, but there is an art to it. You can't just get it everywhere, like a lot of people do."

Notably, in an interview published by Variety in October 2025, Sydney Sweeney recalled:

"I have very strong eyebrow muscles and I had someone tell me to fix my face or else I am not going to make it. I should get Botox. I was 16! I have never gotten anything done. I am absolutely terrified of needles. No tattoos. Nothing. I am going to age gracefully."

The Euphoria star recently addressed the backlash regarding her American Eagle ad campaign, speaking"

"I was honestly surprised by the reaction. I did it because I love the jeans and love the brand. I do not support the views some people chose to connect to the campaign. Many have assigned motives and labels to me that just are not true. Anyone who knows me knows that I am always trying to bring people together. I am against hate and divisiveness."

Sydney Sweeney added:

"In the past my stance has been to never respond to negative or positive press but recently I have come to realize that my silence regarding this issue has only widened the divide, not closed it. So I hope this new year brings more focus on what connects us instead of what divides us."

Sweeney's thriller, The Housemaid, starring Amanda Seyfried, Brandon Sklenar, Michele Morrone, and Elizabeth Perkins, is officially slated to be released in theaters on December 19, 2025. She is also set to reprise her role as Cassie Howard in season 3 of Euphoria, which is expected to premiere in April 2026.
