Timothée Chalamet bagged the award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy category at the 2026 Golden Globe Awards. It was his first-ever Golden Globe win. His win came after a period of getting multiple notable nominations and near misses.

Timothée Chalamet competed in a category which included significant actors such as Leonardo DiCaprio, George Clooney and other beloved actors. Timothée won Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy Film at the 2026 Golden Globe Awards for his performance in Marty Supreme. The film was about the competitive table tennis scene.

Notably, this was Timothée Chalamet's fifth Golden Globe nomination but his first win. Earlier he had been nominated for projects such as Call Me by Your Name, Beautiful Boy and more. Netizens reacted to his win at the 2026 Golden Globe Awards, saying,

"Young GOAT."

"If the rock beats out Michael B Jordan then who are we gonna blame LMFAOOOO", stated an X user.

"Finally! Got worried DiCaprio was going to win instead.", shared a third.

Others also chimed in:

"I don't see it a couple of the other nominees are so much better Yes he was good But film in its self is not that entertaining I think he will get Oscar as he has been hyped up so much to the right people.", noted a netizen.
"What is the point of the category if none of the movies are musicals or comedies.", penned another.
"Musical or comedy? The movie had funny moments but i certainly would not classify it as a comedy.", added a third.

During his acceptance speech at the 2026 Golden Globes, Timothée Chalamet talked about his past losses, saying,

"I am in a category with many greats. My dad instilled in me a spirit of gratitude growing up always be grateful for what you have. It has allowed me to leave this ceremony in the past empty handed my head held high, grateful just to be here but I would be lying if I did not say those moments make this moment that much sweeter."

Marty Supreme is inspired by American table tennis icon Marty Reisman. However, the film presents a fictionalized character named Marty Mauser. It is directed by Josh Safdie. Chalamet also thanked Safdie during his acceptance speech.
