General Hospital Daily YAPP Recap, January 5: Can't Sidwell just kill people in Ireland?

Welcome to the General Hospital Daily Y.A.P.P. (Your After-Program Ponderings) for a quick — and by that, I mean you’re already halfway done — recap of the most amazing or what-the-heck-did-we-just-watch moments on today’s episode. Let’s get to it:

Laura's idea to keep Kevin and Ace safe by sending them to Ireland seems a bit flawed in our book. Sidwell has already proven himself to be an international criminal with ties on various continents. Why can't he do a Drew Cain by reaching across the ocean to hurt, kill, or kidnap someone? He held Lucky and Isaiah hostage in Africa and has been working in multiple countries for years, as he has mentioned multiple times. Wouldn't he have henchmen in Ireland who could easily locate Kevin and Ace and kill them if that's what he wants? Laura is acting like nobody can hurt her husband and grandson as long as they are out of Port Charles, and that just seems silly to us. We get that this is a way to explain Kevin's prolonged absence so that Jon Lindstrom can continue working in Atlanta, filming Beyond the Gates, where he plays Joey Armstrong, but Kevin could have just taken the job without all the Sidwell nonsense. Kevin even thought Laura would be safe if she joined him and Ace on their new overseas adventure. So, this family is so worried about this big criminal mastermind that they think a little trip to Ireland will save them all. We guess Sidwell isn't that scary if he keeps his killing in New York and doesn't branch out elsewhere.
