General Hospital Daily YAPP Recap, January 7: Why Drew is more insidious than Sidwell

Welcome to the General Hospital Daily Y.A.P.P. (Your After-Program Ponderings) for a quick — and by that, I mean you’re already halfway done — recap of the most amazing or what-the-heck-did-we-just-watch moments on today’s episode. Let’s get to it:

Sidwell is a villain. A known villain. Everyone in town wonders what he will do next and half the town has some sort of plot or another to bring this man down. He might stay clean with the law, but he makes no secret about who he is. Drew, on the other hand, is supposed to be a fine and upstanding congressman who is above reproach, but who has also been involved in scandal after scandal over the last year. However, what makes him so much worse than Sidwell is that in the end, Drew is nothing but a child abuser, which makes him a unique soap villain. Drew's abuse of children isn't overt, but instead, covert and manipulative. He emotionally abuses and uses children for his own gain and it's creepy to watch. What he did to Wiley last June was horrific, and what he has done to his own child since the summer is even worse. He is using his own daughter as blackmail and there is honestly no coming back from that. Every time he taunts Alexis over access to Scout, we want someone to shoot him again, preferably Alexis. Willow even looks like she wants to shoot him again, as we are pretty sure she shot him the first time. Instead, Willow allows Drew to do what he's doing to a child because it will benefit her. Some mom and school teacher she turned out to be.
