General Hospital Daily YAPP Recap, October 6: Drew, please stop calling Monica your mother

Welcome to the General Hospital Daily Y.A.P.P. (Your After-Program Ponderings) for a quick — and by that, I mean you’re already halfway done — recap of the most amazing or what-the-heck-did-we-just-watch moments on today’s episode. Let’s get to it:

What Happened on General Hospital

If there is anything more exasperating to watch on General Hospital this year than Drew Cain, it's Drew Cain constantly calling Monica his mother. We know that Monica legally adopted him when he was a grown man in his 40s, but she knew him as Drew for maybe two years before he was presumed dead, and was not all that close to him after he returned. Over the last year, she wanted nothing to do with him, kicked him out of her house, barred him from the Q grounds, and legally ensured that he could not use the Quartermaine name. Monica was not Drew's mother. The only reason that Tracy was so worried Monica would learn that Drew was shot was because he was Alan's son, but with her leaving him out of her will, it was clear she did not think of him as her son. Yet, we have to continue listening to this awful character who bears zero resemblance to the one whom Monica adopted. He is a completely different character at this point, and one nobody likes — not the audience nor our favorite Port Charles pals. So, hearing him keep referring to Monica as his mother is maddening. And maybe the theories have been correct, that this man is not Drew Cain at all. That would mean Monica was never his mother, even briefly, as an adopted adult.
