General Hospital Daily YAPP Recap, September 18: Jason Quartermaine and Tracy Quartermaine said goodbye to Monica Quartermaine

Welcome to the General Hospital Daily Y.A.P.P. (Your After-Program Ponderings) for a quick — and by that, I mean you’re already halfway done — recap of the most amazing or what-the-heck-did-we-just-watch moments on today’s episode. Let’s get to it:

What Happened on General Hospital

Did you need multiple boxes of Kleenex today, cause we sure did? We had wondered since January how General Hospital would handle the initial scenes after Monica Quartermaine died in her sleep (as we expected she would). Today, we learned the show handled it with perfection. From the moment Jason came down the stairs and somberly told Tracy the news to the moment when Jason and Tracy just held one another through their grief on the couch, we couldn't take our eyes off of them. When Jason took Monica's (and Tracy's) side over Sonny in January and brought Tracy so much joy, we thought that was the moment he became a Quartermaine again, but that was the first step in his journey. For today, just months shy of the 30th anniversary of his accident, Jason spoke of his regrets and how he wishes he could remember his childhood with Monica as his mother. We had never heard Jason wonder about his former life before, as he pushed his family — including his mother — away for years. But as he wept for Monica and allowed Tracy to tell him the story of the first time Monica decided Jason was her son, we saw Jason Quartermaine for the first time since AJ rammed their car into that tree all those years ago. Monica would have wept with joy, too.
