General Hospital Daily YAPP Recap, September 25: Good choices and bad at Monica's funeral

Welcome to the General Hospital Daily Y.A.P.P. (Your After-Program Ponderings) for a quick — and by that, I mean you’re already halfway done — recap of the most amazing or what-the-heck-did-we-just-watch moments on today’s episode. Let’s get to it:

General Hospital very wisely chose not to include Carly and Sonny in Monica's funeral episodes after fan backlash this past spring. The two were featured prominently when GH dedicated a cardiac wing to the cardiac surgeon, with Sonny being the wing's sorta silent benefactor. After Sonny kept Monica's grandson from her for years and shot her son, AJ, in cold blood, it would have been wholly inappropriate to include them in the episode, so thank goodness they weren't there. However, the hour also did not need Drew. He is the town pariah whom almost no fans like. Heck, Monica wasn't even sure what to make of him this year. She was so disgusted by him that she got a court order to keep him from using the Quartermaine name. This was a man who was ready to bulldoze the building where her son, husband, and daughter were laid to rest, so to bring the black sheep into the mix, someone who has barely even been a Quartermaine, was completely unnecessary and took away from the sheer beauty of today's episode. After those heartwrenching speeches from Jason and Michael, when we were all in our feels, we had to see Drew burst in, ready to cause trouble. We know the Quartermaines are a bickering family, but Drew is not there to bicker. He is there to fight as he always is. And it is neither the time nor the place.
