General Hospital's Paige Herschell mourns loss of her dog

General Hospital newcomer Paige Herschell is mourning a personal loss.

Herschell (Jacinda Bracken) and her partner, Drew Cash, announced the passing of their dog, Ruby, on their Instagram accounts this week. Ruby, a dachshund, was 16 years old.

Cash authored an Instagram post, starting it with “she was the bestest girl for 16 years, 4 months, and 6 days. I held her for many hours of her last days, and her last meal was steak. She kept her famous appetite almost to the end.” He also included a long poem he wrote in her honor on the post.

Herschell shared the post on her Instagram Stories, then posted a video in her Stories of the pup with her own caption, “All dogs go to heaven eventually, right? …. We are so heartbroken but know she is chasing squirrels and braking at skateboarders and eating all the steak and popcorn she wants now. Rest easy Ruby. We’ll see you on the other side.”

Ruby had her own Instagram account (rubytubesday), with a lot of posts of her giving funny faces or her parents dressing her up in outfits.

Numerous people gave the couple condolences on the loss of their sweet pup.

Cash is an actor who has appeared on TV series such as Criminal Minds. He has recorded a lot of music, and has posted videos of him singing with his love. He performs in shows around the country.

Herschell also sings a lot, including with the swing jazz group San Lyon. They do a lot of live performances, most recently at a jazz festival in Idaho. They also perform a lot of shows in Southern California.

According to an Instagram post Cash made last year, the couple met about 14 years ago while working in a touring production of the Shakespeare play Taming of the Shrew.

Herschell has been on General Hospital this year as Jacinda Bracken, the call girl who has stirred up trouble for several powerful Port Charles citizens. Currently, she is pretending to be Michael’s (Rory Gibson) alibi for the night of Drew’s (Cameron Mathison) shooting, though several characters are skeptical about their account of that night. If Michael turns out to be the shooter, Jacinda could find herself in a lot of legal trouble.

Herschell has appeared in episodes of The Paper, Billions and The Orville. In 2024, she appeared on two episodes of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit which earned her a lot of acclaim and attention from fans on social media.
