What happened on General Hospital

Inside the Q Mansion, Michael found Brook Lynn crying in the living room. As she was telling him her son truly hates her and she didn’t know if things could get any worse, Dante marched in and asked, “Why the hell did you do that to my son?” He went on to say, “I knew you could be destructive, but this - cruel to a kid? This is kind of a new low. I mean, to be this vicious to Rocco.”
Michael interjected and told Dante he needed to take a step back because he didn’t like the way he was talking to Brook Lynn. Dante let Michael know the situation had nothing to do with him and went on to explain what Brook Lynn had done.
She defended herself by saying the file was in a stack of her Deception files, which were never meant to be found, and acted befuddled that, somehow, Danny and Rocco found it. Not accepting her very thin defense, Dante said, “You left a file out with incredibly private information about my son in the house that he lives in, like it’s a loaded weapon.” When she claimed that wasn't what she did, he said he felt it was as if she wanted Rocco to find it, and maybe even planned for him to find it.
Admitting he didn’t know exactly what she did, he knew she did it to hurt Lulu, and it needed to stop. He wanted her to stop blaming Lulu for what Gio might feel about her giving him up for adoption. When he said how Gio felt was all on her, Michael intervened again and told Dante that was enough.
When Michael told him he had no idea what it cost Brook Lynn to give up her baby, and he had no right to judge her, Dante acknowledged he was not in Brook Lynn’s shoes and had no idea what she went through. Brook Lynn finally stepped in and told Michael, even though she appreciated everything he said, that this was something she and Dante needed to work out for themselves.
After Michael left, Brook Lynn defensively told Dante it was just the two of them and he could let her have it, again. Dante calmly said he was out of line for what he just said about giving up Gio, but he felt like she was out of line too. He understood she despised Lulu but he couldn’t understand her involving his son who was now questioning everything he knew.
She again swore it was never her intention to hurt Rocco, but said it didn’t matter because they were at the same end result: She wanted to hurt Lulu, and Rocco got caught in the crossfire. She said she truly regretted it and considered it to be possibly the worst thing she’d ever done. Dante accepted her apology, but said, unfortunately, it doesn’t fix the way Rocco or Gio were feeling right now. Brook Lynn thought Gio was now seeing her as the “lowest of the low”, but the silver lining may be that he would be more open to Dante now.
Dante said he couldn't get over what she did to Rocco, but he knew when she gave Gio up, she did so with the intention of doing right by their son. He hoped they would get the chance to show Gio how much they loved him.
Portia visited Curtis at his Aurora office to fill him in on the wonderful job Trina did with the Joel Sartore show. When she questioned why he didn’t make it to the show, he said he was stuck there being blackmailed by Drew again.
Curtis updated Portia about Drew paying off Jacinda to disappear and Kai being the one who tipped Drew off. Even though Curtis said he would do whatever he could to stop Drew from taking her down, Portia was put off by the feeling he was only protecting her because she was Trina’s mother and not because she was his wife. Curtis confirmed he felt it was Portia’s fault, and he was protecting her more to protect Trina and himself, and to feel he did everything he could to honor their vows. Angered, Portia said she was sorry she wasn’t worthy of his honorable intentions, like she was sure Jordan was. She told him not to wait up and left.
Curtis asked Michael to his office so he could warn him about the article (“Did Sonny Corinthos end Natalia Ramirez?”) which was about to drop on all Aurora media platforms. Curtis worried he didn’t have any moves left to try and stop Drew and questioned whether he and Portia had what it took to make it out of their situation. Michael encouraged him not to give up on Portia yet and, again, told him to do what was needed to protect his family. He left to warn Sonny about the story that was just released.
While waiting to meet Felicia, Anna ran into Isaiah at the Brown Dog Bar. She spotted Emma having a drink with an older man (Vaughn) and wanted Isaiah to be her cover while she figured out what was going on.
Anna stopped Emma and Vaughn from leaving and asked Emma who her friend was. To prevent them from leaving, Anna insisted on buying them a drink. Felicia messaged she wasn’t going to make it which gave Anna more time to get to know Vaughn. When she asked his name, he said “Vaughn” and she said hers was “Police Commissioner”. After a couple of more questions, he excused himself to go to the restroom.
When Anna expressed concern that he was older, Emma said she was an adult who could date whomever she wanted and pointed out Anna had likely dated older men as well. Then, Anna surprised Emma by recognizing she was likely using Vaughn because he worked for the university, and she wanted to use him to gain access.
Vaughn, who apparently called Josslyn from the bathroom for her assistance, finally returned to the table and tried to get Emma to leave, but Anna told them not to leave because they were just getting acquainted. Josslyn walked up and loudly went up to the table to tell Vaughn he had won.
As Emma and Joss were taking swipes at each other, Anna intervened and told them not to slip into “stereotypical female behavior right here in the Brown Dog.” Joss agreed with Anna and pulled Vaughn to the side to loudly give him an ultimatum to choose between her and Emma.
He told Emma he was really sorry, but even if Joss was a little crazy, he was into it and wanted to be with her. As Vaughn and Joss walked off, Anna looked skeptical, sensing things were not as they appeared.
Joss and Vaughn doubted if their ruse with Emma worked very well. Vaughn said Anna was sharp and was on to him. Anna and Emma looked on as Joss and Vaughn began to kiss. Anna remarked that they were a bit intense, and Emma said Joss never missed a chance to embarrass herself. Anna said she didn’t know if Emma actually liked Vaughn, but felt bad for her nonetheless. Emma agreed with her when she said it was probably for the best that it didn’t work out with Vaughn, and then looked down at the master key to PCU that she was holding.
After leaving her argument with Curtis, Portia arrived at the Brown Dog and asked Isaiah if she could sit with him. She told him she ran into Jordan who was trying to steal her husband and lying about her intentions. Portia did feel Jordan was right that, if her marriage ends, she would have no one to blame but herself though.
Isaiah suggested that if Curtis couldn’t see what a fabulous doctor and wonderful woman she was, then maybe Curtis was the problem. He encouraged her to start playing her own game and not Jordan’s. Portia was happy for the support and bought him a drink.
Kai came to see Trina at the gallery after the show. She was riding high after the Joel Sartore show, but Kai soon dampened her spirits by admitting he told Drew about Curtis’ and Portia’s plan. Stunned, Trina asked how he could do such a thing, but Kai replied how could he not.
Trina grew more exasperated as Kai vehemently pleaded his case and defended Drew. She finally stopped him in his tracks when she told him she appreciated his sense of loyalty but wished it was extended to her. She reminded him that she had told him about Drew working against her parents, but it didn’t seem to matter because his loyalty appeared to begin and end with Drew.
When he disagreed, she explained that's what it looked and felt like, but he wasn’t considering the trust they were supposed to be building together.
Kai seemed surprised that Trina couldn’t trust him anymore. She questioned how she was supposed to trust him when he went back on his agreement to stay out of the situation and asked, “So tell me, did you even hesitate when you betrayed my family and me?”
Kai argued that saying something to Drew was a difficult decision he wrestled with. He said he cared for her and her family, but she felt he cared about Drew more. He said he couldn’t stand by and let something happen when he knew it was wrong. Taking no bull, Trina said he knew the situation was complicated and he didn’t have enough information to determine what was really wrong. Digging his hole further, he said he knew what he heard and couldn’t sit back and watch someone be destroyed by something they didn’t do. Kai asked if she would really want to be him if he was the kind of person who would be okay with that, but Trina told him she wasn’t sure she wanted to be with him at all.
Kai argued all he did was tell the truth, but Trina told him, “You made a choice, Kai, and you chose Drew.” She told him she would always choose her family, no matter what, and he would never be family to her. Kai said he loved Trina, but she told him to get out.
Lulu asked Laura over to her house for help with the Rocco-Britt Westbourne situation. She explained what Brook Lynn did that led to Rocco finding out about Britt. Lulu was worried Rocco was still confused, had more questions, and was overwhelmed. When she said Brook Lynn’s main goal was to cause chaos, Laura said they wouldn’t let her get away with that, and they needed to focus on Rocco.
Looking at it analytically, Laura asked what it was Rocco needed to understand right now. Lulu felt he first needed to understand she was his mom and, biologically, hers and Dante’s, even if Britt is the one who gave birth to him. She said they were the only parents he’s ever known, to which Laura added, “More importantly, you’re the only parents he’s ever loved.”
Lulu was worried this new information was causing Rocco to pull away, and Laura acknowledged that, at Rocco’s age, information like that can change everything. When Laura went on to talk about how hard it is for kids to find out their parents have a complicated past, Lulu said, “Having complicated pasts is the Spencer way.” Having learned from experience, Laura counseled that it could be painful for a child to find out their parents existed in ways they knew nothing about.
Even though it could continue to affect the way a child sees themselves and their parents, Laura was confident that none of the confusion and hurt outweighed a really strong foundation of love, and it would all eventually pass. She thought Rocco might see his life through a different lens and have more questions, but he would know how much Lulu loved him because she was a wonderful mother whose love had never wavered. Comforted, but still worried, Lulu leaned into her mother’s embrace and assurance that everything would be okay.
Meanwhile, Rocco was upstairs looking up information about Liesl Obrecht. Later, Rocco came downstairs to find his Grandma Laura on the porch. When Lulu was about to walk out with tea, she heard Rocco telling Laura that the hardest part for him was that, no matter what his mother said, he kept thinking he might never have been born if Britt hadn’t stolen the embryo. When Laura asked why he supposed he kept thinking about that, he said it was probably because he felt it meant his parents didn’t choose to have him. He said he was stolen and then, suddenly, they were parents whether they wanted him or not.
Laura assured there was nothing sudden about him, and he was so very wanted. She told him Lulu and Dante were desperate to have him. She said they fought and prayed for him, “and when you showed up, you were nothing short of a miracle.” Rocco didn’t think anyone had ever called him a miracle before, but she sharedthat they called him one many, many times.
She went on to share that miracles never happen the way we expect them to and used Lulu’s coma as an example. She reminded Rocco how they prayed and held Lulu’s hand by her bedside, but they didn’t get their miracle the way they expected. Lulu didn’t come back to them in an easy way, but they were still grateful nonetheless. Laura acknowledged it was a confusing time where he would have a lot of questions, but the one thing he would never have to question is his parents' love for him, which he could depend on for the rest of his life.
Laura also explained how upset Lulu and Dante were because they had wanted to be the ones to tell him about everything and didn’t want him to be blindsided like this. She asked Rocco to always remember he was their miracle and always would be, but to keep asking questions. She wanted him to ask all of the questions he needed to get to the answer that felt satisfying to him.
After Rocco went back upstairs, Lulu sat with her mom and thanked her for everything she said to him. As Laura was comforting Lulu, Rocco was in his room sending an email to Liesl Obrecht.
Tracy met Chase with a towel as he was getting out of the lake after his swim at the Quartermaine boathouse. She wanted to know if he had seen Brook Lynn yet, which he hadn’t. Tracy told him his “wife was barreling headlong toward disaster, and you need to stop her.”
At first, Chase did not want to discuss Brook Lynn behind her back and told Tracy to take any concerns she had directly to her. Tracy said it was not that easy to rein Brook Lynn in, and he clearly still had no idea who he was dealing with. Chase overconfidently told Tracy she didn’t need to tell him anything about his wife. She then switched to tell him about some of the many ways she and Brook Lynn were alike.
Tracy shared, “When somebody intentionally hurts us, we find it impossible to take it lying down. I have blown up my life more than once in the process of seeking revenge. I do not want Brook Lynn to follow in my footsteps.” Acting obtuse, Chase asked who she thought Brook Lynn was going after. Tracy stated the obvious, that Brook Lynn held Lulu was responsible for what was happening with Gio and was going after Lulu. Quickly seeing the slightly smug look on his face, she asked him if he thought Brook Lynn was justified in going after Lulu.
Chase said she knew Lulu crossed the line. When Tracy conceded letting Gio find out about his biological parents at the Nurses’ Ball was not Lulu’s finest hour, Chase (without acknowledging any of his or Brook Lynn’s own actions) said neither was Lulu’s harassment, bullying, and threatening that led up to it.
Even after admitting the truth needed to come out for everyone, Chase made it clear he felt it was all Lulu’s fault that Brook Lynn wasn’t able to build a relationship with Gio. Tracy asked him if that meant he was going to help Brook Lynn punish Lulu. Indignantly, he said he did not know of some grand payback scheme or plotted revenge by Brook Lynn.
Tracy cautioned that Brook Lynn was very smart and motivated. Lulu made mistakes, and Brook Lynn will hone in on the worst one and exploit it for everything it’s worth. Still not understanding Tracy’s intentions, Chase said he really didn’t like her talking about his wife like that. Undeterred, Tracy told him what she was saying was true, yet it was also true that Brook Lynn loved and respected Chase. Because Brook Lynn wanted to be the best version of herself for him, Tracy felt he could be the only one to stop her. Chase said he didn’t police his wife or tell her what to do.
She pleaded with him to see how no good could come of Brook Lynn and Lulu destroying each other, both of whom she loved so much. When he asked what she wanted him to do, she said she wanted him to try to stop the situation from devolving any further because they would only end up hurting each other and themselves.
She said all the good qualities he saw about Brook Lynn were real, but so was her viciousness and fight. Tracy didn’t want Brook Lynn to lose all her beautiful parts, which she said Chase amplified, and wanted him to get Brook Lynn to see that the way forward was not revenge, but building a family with him and a relationship with Gio. Chase agreed that Gio should be Brook Lynn’s priority, but clarified he loved his wife and promised there was nothing Brook Lynn could do to drive him away.
