Josslyn was sitting by the window at the Metro Court pool, researching Dalton on her computer when Carly walked up. Joss shared how much the fire at Charlie’s affected her and how it triggered her memories of what happened to Michael and Morgan. Carly tried to comfort her by saying, even though their family had been through a lot, she was grateful they were now safe, happy, and healthy and she was also grateful for Josslyn. Joss saw Vaughn come in to take a swim. As he was taking his shirt off, she flashed back to their kiss in front of Charlie’s. Carly took notice of Joss’ distraction and told her she could go talk to him.

Emma visited Gio at the Metro Court pool. He was still trying to get his mind off of Sonny and having a difficult time reconciling the Sonny he knew with the one Tracy warned him about. Emma reminded him people are not just one thing, but Gio said he was done being in the dark and just wanted to know who Sonny really was. She suggested he ask someone.

Gio then approached Carly to ask about Sonny. After expressing his confusion, Carly told him the truth was complicated. She shared that Sonny had a difficult childhood where he got pulled into things he shouldn’t have and there were many things he's done which he later regretted. On the flipside, she also talked about his fierce love and loyalty and being protective of family and those he loves.

Still, she was honest there was another darker side to Sonny - one which Michael and Dante have wrestled with. She told him they had the same questions about Sonny and they both walked away but came back more than once. In the end, she surmised it was not easy to navigate having Sonny in your life, but once he was in it, he stayed if you let him. Gio felt he might want to talk to Sonny’s son for more answers.

Vaughn told Josslyn they still needed to decide what to do about Emma because they got distracted at Charlie’s and they both agreed to pretend their kiss never happened. She still felt the surest way to throw Emma off-course would be for Vaughn to gain her trust through her animal organization (SAAC. - Students Against Animal Cruelty). Vaughn went on to share a heartfelt story about his childhood dog he lost to cancer. Joss was almost taken in but then realized his story could very well have been made up.

They went on to discuss Emma’s dislike of Joss which Vaughn could use to bond with her. Noting Emma walk in, the two staged a quick argument where Joss dumped Vaughn. Emma fell for it and, after Joss left, she brought a beverage over to Vaughn to sit and talk. She told him he dodged a bullet because Joss had always been like that. In their conversation, Vaughn reinforced Emma’s negative opinion of Joss.

Vaughn flirted and, pretending he didn’t know she started SAAC, wove the conversation around to tell Emma she should join this great organization. Joss watched from the side as Vaughn reeled Emma in. Later, as everyone stood to watch the fireworks, Emma put her arm around Vaughn’s when she noticed Joss walk back in.

Anna went to Wyndermere to question Sidwell about his involvement in Natalia’s death. Sidwell said he was appalled Anna would think he would do anything to harm the mother of his son. Instead of the condolences he felt he was offered, Anna remained skeptical. She told him she came to talk to him alone because she did not want to subject anyone to his “performative assurances” that he was simply a businessman.

When asked for the truth, Sidwell said he was at Wyndermere with Alexis and she needed to look at Sonny. Sidwell revealed Sonny had a heart condition which he let Natalia know about. He hypothesized Natalia could have not just told him about it, but countless others and maybe Sonny found out she broke his trust. Anna remained undeterred and let him know his assurances about anything meant less-than-nothing to her before she left.

Marco, having run into Anna at the hospital when she received the autopsy results, arrived during the fireworks to tell Sidwell Natalia’s death was ruled an accident and Corinthos was free. Sidwell said the police may have dropped the matter, but they wouldn’t.

Laura paid Sonny a visit in the PCPD interrogation room. She wanted more information regarding the violence Sonny predicted would be coming to Port Charles. Sonny felt the damage could be a way to contain the damage and Laura should distance herself from him, but she remained steadfast and vowed she was not going to back down and run scared from Boyle and people’s accusations.

As they hugged, Boyle busted into the interrogation room while holding his phone camera to record them. An officer came to assure Boyle deleted the video and removed the “jackass” at Laura’s request.

Anna arrived at the PCPD with the results. As she told Sonny and Laura about the results, Boyle was listening from outside the doorway. Anna said Natalia died from a lethal combination of drugs and alcohol. Because there were no defensive wounds, there was nothing to indicate that force was used. She noted it was impossible to say whether it was an accident or intentional, but could conclude it was not murder. As they were leaving, Boyle taunted Sonny, Laura, and Anna.

Rocco came home and immediately shocked Lulu when he said he wanted to know about Britt Westbourne. When he asked if it were true that Britt and not her, gave birth to him, Lulu said she was going to call Dante. But, Rocco wanted to know right then, “Is Britt my real mother/”

Lulu said she wanted to wait for Dante because it was important information he needed to hear from the both of them and not just her. When Dante arrived, he was surprised to find out Rocco had questions about Britt.

Rocco explained what he saw on the birth certificates he found and wanted to know if he was Ben and if that woman gave birth to him. They told him Britt gave birth to him, but he was biologically their child. Before giving more details, they explained they had a plan to tell him the full truth all along, but the plan was derailed when Lulu went into her coma. Dante admitted he should have told Rocco anyway, but it felt wrong without her there. Since her coma, Lulu said it just got lost in the chaos. They both admitted they should have said something already and were there now to explain everything and answer all of his questions.

They explained how they were using IVF when they were trying to get pregnant. She said after Maxie didn’t work as the surrogate, they decided to wait for a while. During that time, Britt (who was their doctor) stole one of their embryos which turned out to be him.

Falling down a quick rabbit hole, Rocco went from recognizing Britt did a really messed up thing but, feeling if she hadn’t, he might not have even been born. Because he now knew they had put things on pause, he said they may have never decided to use the embryos on their own and that meant they really didn’t want him in the first place.

They tried to assure him that was not the case. When they went on to explain how he was 7 months old by the time they found out, Rocco felt it meant they just got stuck with him. They told him they only found out because they had gone back to the hospital to use the embryos to try again and discovered the missing one. They told him how desperate they were to have a child together and how they were desperate to have him.

Lulu tried to comfort and reassure Rocco saying, “You are our son, Rocco. We loved each other more than anything and you were conceived in that love. So, no matter how you came into this world, I just - we want you to know that you are loved beyond measure.”

Rocco said there was a part of him that wished Danny never found the file. He explained Danny found the file labeled with his name at the Quartermaine’s in a stack of Brook Lynn’s Deception stuff. Danny said he wasn’t mad, but he wished he’d heard it from them. He said it was going to take him a while to understand everything and wanted to go to his room. After Rocco left for his room, Dante said he wanted to stay and an angered Lulu left to find Brook Lynn.

After Lulu left, Rocco came outside to watch the fireworks with Dante. Rocco was afraid they’d be mad at Danny, but Dante assured him no one was mad at Danny who wasn’t the one responsible for this.

At the Q mansion, Cody came in to check on Daisy and Sasha. When Cody asked if she was still freaking out about something happening, she said she wanted to believe it was mom brain or exhaustion but had to admit she wasn’t sure. Even still, she continued to rationalize her worry away. Later, Michael found Sasha in the nursery with Daisy. They had a sweet moment while both agreeing Daisy’s safety and well-being was their priority.

Michael and Brook Lynn talked at the Quartermaine boathouse as they got ready for the 4th of July celebrations. Michael shared he was a little worried about Wylie because of the incident that happened with Willow at the Metro Court pool.

He, again, expressed that Willow was not the same person he knew and he has now come to expect cruel manipulations from her. Brook Lynn was outraged by people weaponizing children like that. She went on to complain about Lulu who she felt used Gio to score points with Dante without any consideration for hurting her child.

When Michael said he could never understand how someone could use a kid like that, Brook Lynn admitted she almost stooped to Lulu’s level. She said for only a “hot second” she considered using Rocco to get back at Lulu but she couldn’t go through with it.

Cody walked up after Michael left and he and Brook Lynn talked for the first time in weeks. They were both angry at the other. Brook Lynn felt Cody had no right to be mad at her, but he let her know by not telling him the full truth, she made him complicit in keeping a big secret from his best friend, Dante.

Brook Lynn actually apologized to Cody and the two shared their differing viewpoints on the situation. Cody said he helped Lulu because he had been through a similar situation and didn’t want that for Dante or Gio. They decided if neither of them set out to hurt each other, then they could forgive each other.

Later, Cody toasted with Michael, Sasha, and Brook Lynn because it had been a year to the day since he told Mac Scorpio he was his son. Brook Lynn recalled they all still liked Drew when he had decided to run for Congress, but Michael said that night was the beginning of the end for his marriage since it is when Willow and Drew first kissed. Brook Lynn shared her hope that, by this time next year, Gio would be talking to her. Sasha said if things could work out for them, they could work out for her.

The fireworks started. Sasha left when she heard Daisy wake up on the monitor, but was shocked to find Daisy missing when she got to the nursery. Meanwhile, Cody and Michael headed back to the house to get more drinks. As Brook Lynn was watching the fireworks, Lulu walked up. Angered, she said she knew Brook Lynn hated her but hurting Rocco was unforgivable and slapped her across the face.
