Here is your General Hospital recap for Tuesday, May 13, 2025, when Sonny made a major decision.
What happened on General Hospital

At the Metro Court, Jason listened as Aunt Tracy told him all about Brook Lynn having a baby in high school and giving him up for adoption. "I need you to find him," Tracy whispered.
"And Brook Lynn wants you to find her son?" Jason asked. "If she does, I should be having this conversation with her." Jason immediately knew Brook Lynn wasn't aware of what Tracy was up to. He advised her to leave the matter alone. Tracy refused, blaming Gloria and Lois for this mess.
"If they cared about that boy, they would have made sure he was raised a Quartermaine," Tracy declared. "That's as much a curse as a blessing," Jason pointed out. "This is none of my business. I'm not getting involved," he added.
Tracy refused to give up and made Jason an offer: "In exchange for your services, I am prepared to do something that might benefit your friend Sonny. If you find Brook Lynn's child, I will withdraw my support for the anti-Sonny campaign and to advocate for him to keep his waterfront property."
Jason was shocked that Tracy would do this. "For my great-grandson, yes, that's how much this means to me. Jason, he's a Quartermaine. He deserves to know that," Tracy said. Jason gently told Tracy that he couldn't help her out of respect for Brook Lynn.
"You know, you've sealed Sonny's fate. I was gonna back off, but now I am going to run that man out of Port Charles for good," Tracy warned.
In Lulu's living room, Carly did her best to veer Lulu's one-track mind away from Brook Lynn's baby. "I know you think you're doing the right thing, wanting to reunite Dante with his son. But I'm telling you, if you do this, you're making a huge mistake," Carly said.
"I am having a very hard time keeping this secret from Dante," Lulu whined, as Carly chastised Lulu for even thinking about finding out who Dante's son was. "I think I already know and I think he's right here in Port Charles," Lulu blurted out. Carly's ears perked up. "Who do you think Dante's son is?" Carly asked. "It's Gio," Lulu replied.
Lulu explained how she came to this conclusion. First, Gio was the same age as Brook Lynn and Dante's son. Plus, Gloria and Carmine took Gio in when his mother died. Carly thought it was a big leap to make. "Not if you saw what I saw last night," Lulu said.
Lulu told Carly how Lois came to Gio's defense at the hospital, as well as Dante's claims that Lois and Gloria were always overprotective of Gio. Lulu even thought there was a chance that Brook Lynn knew Gio was her son. "My theory makes sense. Gio is probably Brook Lynn and Dante's son. If he is, I have to tell Dante," Lulu announced.
Carly asked Lulu to think about Gio's feelings and how he'd react to the news. "But Gio lost both of his parents. If I'm right, I would be giving him a family," Lulu said. "Would it be better for Gio to learn the truth instead of living a lie?" Lulu asked. Carly accused Lulu of playing God.
Lulu suddenly realized that Lois went to Sonny for help with Gio's education because she knew he was Gio's grandfather. However, Lulu wasn't sure if Sonny knew that. Carly advised Lulu that she needed proof that Gio was Dante's son.
At Sonny's place, Laura frantically told Sonny that he couldn't sell his piers to Sidwell. Sonny believed that selling could be the answer to their problems. Laura couldn't disagree more. "He's a horrible man. He held my son hostage. He almost killed him," Laura said.
Sonny wanted Laura to see the bigger picture. "I don't trust Sidwell either. But sometimes it's worth making a deal with the devil," Sonny said. He sat Laura down and explained that if he sold his piers, Laura would be free of him, and the referendum would become a non-issue.
Laura didn't care about Sonny's reasoning. "I don't want Sidwell to build a power base here in Port Charles. Frankly, I'm kind of surprised that you would allow him to, even if it is for a big sum of money," Laura said.
When Sonny told Laura this wasn't about the money, Laura knew what came next. "That can only mean one thing. You're planning your exit strategy," she marveled. Sonny admitted that Laura was right. He wanted to step back from the business and focus on his family.
"Do guys in your line of work get to retire?" Laura asked. Sonny admitted it would be tricky, but he had no intention of leaving Port Charles. "I think it's time for me to have a fresh start," Sonny said. Laura was worried about what would happen if Sidwell took over Port Charles crime. Sonny promised Laura there would be a peaceful transfer of power.
Laura wasn't so sure about that. "I think he's going to usher in a whole new level of crime and violence in this city," she said. Sonny wondered who was responsible for keeping Sidwell in check. Laura realized it would be her and that she was being unfair asking Sonny to put the city ahead of his family. "Okay, Sonny, if you think it's time to walk away, I fully support you in that," Laura declared.
As Sonny walked Laura out, Jason returned. Once they were alone, Sonny told Jason that Laura helped him see things clearly when she said he needed to take care of his family. "And that's what I'm going to do," he said.
Emma was shocked to find Josslyn in Professor Dalton's office. She was further surprised when Josslyn told her Dalton had hired her as his summer research assistant. "I can't believe it. You stole my job," Emma accused. Josslyn insisted that she earned the position fair and square, but Emma didn't buy it.
She couldn't believe that Josslyn hadn't told her she had also applied for the job, "especially after I opened up to you about how important it was to me." She accused Josslyn of stabbing her in the back. Emma was sure that Jax had paid Dalton off to give Joss the job.
"If I find out that Professor Dalton is experimenting on animals or doing anything unethical, I will let the authorities know," Joss promised. Emma was not deterred. "I was right about you all along. You're nothing but a spoiled, selfish, untrustworthy bitch," Emma seethed.
After Emma left, Josslyn locked the door to the office and began snooping around. Before she could get far, the door knob began to ijggle. Joss put everything back as it was and unlocked the door. That's when Vaughn walked in, so they continued snooping together. They found nothing of importance and deduced that the good stuff would be in his lab.
At the rehearsal space, Lucy, Maxie, Felicia, and Anna rehearsed their number until Sidwell popped in to make sure everything was going well since he was funding the Nurses' Ball this year. Anna was alarmed when Emma came storming in looking for Gio, who had already left.
Anna took Emma aside, where Emma told her grandmother the whole tale of Josslyn getting the research assistant job over her. Emma suddenly realized that Josslyn had sabotaged her. Anna warned Emma not to make such accusations without proof.
During a rehearsal break, Lucy thanked Sidwell for underwriting the entire ball, but Sidwell admitted he had an ulterior motive. He was more accepted in Port Charles after throwing money at the annual ball.
Portia called Drew and assured him she had gotten through to Curtis, but argued that she couldn't be at his beck and call 24/7. Portia hung up just before Trina walked in. She was at the hospital to see Kai, so she also dropped in to see her mom.
Trina complained about the documentary filmmaker who was following Kai everywhere. Trina was dying to say something bad about Drew to the camera, but knew she shouldn't. Portia told Trina that it's not her job or Curtis' to point out Drew's true nature. Trina was curious about why her mom seemed to be defending Drew. Portia explained her stance on Curtis' article, and Trina saw her point.
At the Brown Dog, Jordan stopped Curtis from confiding his marital problems to her. Curtis argued that she was the only person he could turn to, so Jordan agreed to listen. "Portia has become a Drew apologist overnight. For the life of me, I can't figure out why," Curtis said.
Curtis relayed what happened when he told Portia about the latest article he was running about Drew. Portia worried that Curtis would look biased. Jordan didn't think Portia's stance was unreasonable. Curtis confessed that he had walked in on some conversations between Portia and Drew that seemed off. Curtis was convinced that Drew had to have something on Portia and was forcing her to defend him. Good deduction, Curtis.
