In the atrium of the new cardiac wing, Dante continued to lay into Gio until Lois finally cracked. "You don't know who Gio really is," she blurted out as Lulu listened in on the argument. "I know who Gio is. I've known him since he was a baby. I watched him grow up. And I never thought he'd be this irresponsible. But by all means, Lois, please tell me who Gio really is."

Dante was on a tear at this point. "Go ahead, defend Gio, just like you have his entire life. You and your mother practically wrapped this kid in bubble wrap so he never had to face the consequences of his actions," Dante accused.

Finally, Gio spoke for himself. "Dante, I didn't give Danny or Rocco any alcohol. I didn't know that they were at the bonfire party until Danny came and got me," Gio explained to no avail. "At least Danny knew that he was in over his head. What were you trying to be? The cool college guy who went along with the kid's plan to not get his brother in trouble?" Dante asked, before once again chastising Lois for coddling Gio his entire life.

Lois came to Gio's defense as Dante threatened to arrest Gio if he learned he was lying. "He could have ended up in the morgue," Dante spat, referring to Rocco. That's when Lulu stepped in. "But he didn't. Dante, Rocco's going to be all right," she said.

Lois was still furious and told Dante he was out of line for blaming Gio for something that wasn't his fault. Gio spoke up again. "Aunt Lois, he's right. This is all on me and I'm sorry," Gio said before running off. Lois and Dante argued some more before Lois said too much again. "At least Gio was there. Where were you when your son needed you?" Lois shouted. She accused Dante of feeling guilty for failing Rocco and taking his feelings out on Gio.

"You have such a good heart, Dante. How can you not recognize that same good heart in Gio?" Lois asked before walking off. Lulu stayed behind and told Dante that he was wrong for how he had treated Gio. "I think you were terrified tonight. So was I. But yes, I think you went too far," Lulu said.

Dante explained how Gio has never had to stand on his own two feet. "He's always had Lois intervene, doing everything for him," Dante said. Lulu wondered if Gio was a kid who was always in trouble. Dante said that he wasn't, but that he never learned responsibility.

"Yeah, because being a classical musician doesn't take discipline," Lulu shot back. Dante still felt Gio was coddled. Lulu asked if Brook Lynn also gave Gio special treatment. "Brook Lynn was a softie with all the kids. Not just Gio," Dante said.

Laura entered Rocco's hospital room to find her grandson sleeping with Cody by his bedside. Laura thanked Cody for getting Rocco to the hospital in the nick of time. After Rocco woke and Cody left, Laura sat with Rocco and asked him to tell her what happened. "I did something really stupid," was all Rocco could say at first.

"I didn't go that party to drink. Danny and I thought it would just be fun to hang out and crash a college party," Rocco confessed. He explained that some guys asked him to play a drinking game. He didn't want to seem lame, so he agreed. Rocco admitted he lost track of how many shots he drank.

Dante and Lulu returned to Rocco's room while Laura was still there. Laura took Lulu into the hall, giving Dante time with Rocco. Dante admitted he was angry. "But my love for you will always be stronger than any anger I might have," Dante said. Lulu watched through the window as Dante and Rocco embraced. She then made a voice memo with her phone. "Find out where Lois was when Gio was born," Lulu said.

Brook Lynn and Chase enjoyed a night out at the Brown Dog. They were glad to get away from her family and just be with one another. Chase reminded his wife that nights like this would be a thing of the past once they adopt a baby. Brook Lynn thought it was a good time to tell Chase that she had told Granny Tracy all about the baby she had while in high school.

Chase worried about how Tracy reacted, but Brook Lynn was pleased. "She couldn't have been more supportive," Brook Lynn admitted. She also told Chase that she kept the part about Dante being the father to herself.

Chase then had his own confession. He had stopped by Lulu's to tell her off again, but found Dante instead. "It was hard for me to get him to see that Lulu is out of line with you when I can't tell him why," Chase admitted.

Brook Lynn apologized for putting Chase in this position, but Chase understood Brook Lynn had made a choice all those years ago, and he was going to respect it. "It is such a relief to not carry this secret by myself anymore," Brook Lynn said. Just then, Cody walked in and spotted them before telling Chase and Brook Lynn that Rocco was in the hospital.

Brook Lynn left the table to make some calls and check on Rocco while Chase thanked Cody for getting Rocco to the hospital. Lois later showed up and told Chase and Brook Lynn what had happened between Dante and Gio. Brook Lynn figured Dante and Gio would get over it when cooler heads prevailed. She didn't understand why this upset Lois the way it did.

Vaughn sat with Jack in Jack's office and informed the WSB chief that Professor Dalton was with Anna Devane at The Savoy. He also relayed the info that Joss' biggest competition for the research assistant position was Anna's granddaughter. Vaughn suggested that Anna might have been putting in a good word for Emma.

"Let's hope that's all it is. If she starts to suspect that we're interested in Dalton, that could be a real problem," Jack noted. Vaughn then told Jack that Joss had seen Dalton go into a GH lab with a briefcase, but come out without it.

Vaughn told Jack that Joss was having trouble sabotaging Emma because Emma was her friend. "I fear she lacks the discipline to put the mission first," Vaughn said.

Emma and Joss continued bonding on the beach, with Emma telling Josslyn that she was much different than the girl she knew as a child. Joss admitted she had changed a lot after losing Dex.

"I watched him overcome so much and go through so much and he became a better person because of it. Now, we'll never know how much he would have achieved. It just makes me feel like I have to do something important with my life," Joss said.

Emma then opened up to Josslyn. "Joss, can you keep a secret? I'm on a mission," she said. Emma explained that when she was at Berkeley, she learned that "Professor Dalton was engaged in unethical and illegal practices in his research. Like testing on higher mammals. Dogs, monkeys, cats," she said.

She told Joss about breaking into Dalton's lab, getting caught, and signing an NDA. "My grandmother is the only one who knows the truth about what happened," Emma admitted. "Whatever he was doing there, he's doing it at PCU, and that's why I have to be his summer lab assistant. Whatever he's doing, it's dangerous and it's heinous and I'm going to be the one to prove it," Emma added.

Josslyn asked Emma if she had any proof as to what Dalton was doing. Emma said he hadn't, so Joss suggested that his PCU research might be legit. Emma didn't buy it and felt Dalton was up to something. Just then, Joss received a text and needed to leave.

Joss arrived at Jack's office to find Vaughn there. He told Joss that he was concerned when he saw her talking to Emma. "You looked like you were trying to assuage your conscience," Vaughn said accusingly. Joss defended herself. "I am happy I spoke to Emma, cause it turns out that she knows a lot more than I thought she did," Joss announced.

Jack was impressed with what Joss learned, but warned her that Emma could not get the research job because they needed to keep Anna away from Dalton. Jack warned that what Dalton was doing could have negative global consequences.

Back at the beach, Gio found Emma lying in the sand and worried she had drunk the punch. Emma insisted that she was just fine. Gio told Emma what happened with Rocco and how guilty he felt for not realizing Rocco needed medical help. "Now Dante believes that I gave Rocco alcohol, and he refuses to believe me when I told him that I didn't," Gio said.

Gio was hurt that Dante thought he was the kind of person who would give a teen alcohol and then lie about it. Emma was sure that Dante would apologize once he calmed down, but Gio didn't believe her. "No. I think he finally told me what he thinks of me. I always thought we got along fine, but now I know. He doesn't respect me at all," Gio said.

When Kristina walked into Alexis' living room, she immediately asked what Ric and Ava were doing there. They claimed they wanted to talk to Molly about an apartment that was available in Ava's building. Kristina wondered why they didn't call or text.

Ric admitted he could have called before dropping a bomb: "I'm actually here about my car accident." This alarmed Kristina, but she tried to keep her cool as she listened to Ric. "After my near-death experience, I had to take a good, hard look at my own life. As you know, your mother and I are trying real hard to get along for Molly's sake. I just wanted to build on that," Ric explained.

As Ric and Ava tried to leave, Kristina stopped them, saying, "Before you go, we should get something straight about your car crash. Ric, your accident helped me see how important you are to Molly, and despite our differences, if I want any relationship with my sister at all, I have to honor that."

Kristina shocked everyone in the room with her next announcement. "I have to let go of my anger at you for getting Ava acquitted and at you, for...my fall," Kristina said. "This anger has just been eating away at me, and I want to make peace. With both of you," she added.

"It looks like your uncle's accident has turned into an unexpected gift. One that will just keep on giving," Ava said, as Alexis tried to hide her disdain. Ric and Ava finally left, so Kristina tried to talk to Alexis, but then Molly walked in. She was surprised to see Kristina.

Alexis let both of her daughters know that Scout was asleep upstairs and hadn't seen the pics of Drew yet. "I am hoping we can put our anger aside, not for my sake, but for Sam's daughter," Alexis said.

"Yeah, what Drew did was pretty crazy. You think maybe he needs to be committed?" Molly asked, startling both Kristina and Alexis. Kristina said she just wanted to make peace and put the whole commitment thing behind them.
