What happened on General Hospital

In the foyer of the Quartermaine mansion, Tracy was in shock after Jason told her Monica had passed away. In disbelief, she asked Jason if he was sure. Somberly, he told her that, when he checked, Monica wasn’t breathing, she didn’t have a pulse, and her hand was cold. He felt it was likely she’d passed while sleeping.
Tracy hugged Jason tightly after he called 911 to report Monica’s death. Preparing for the paramedics, Jason found Monica’s DNR papers on her desk. Tracy was thankful they were there alone — the kids were at school, the adults were at work, and Yuri was out running errands. Jason directed the paramedics upstairs when they arrived. He and Tracy showed one of the EMTs Monica’s DNR and gave her the contact information for the funeral home.
The sheriff arrived after being informed of an at-home death. As Tracy brought him upstairs, Jason was in the living room looking at a picture of Monica. Before he left, the sheriff said, “Monica Quartermaine was a wonderful person and a real fixture in the community. She will be missed.”
Jason said he’d never known the house without Monica in it, to which Tracy responded, “Of course you haven’t. It’s Monica’s house.” She recounted one of the many fights she and Monica had. Fondly, she said, “On a good day, we could barely stand each other. And, on a bad day, we practically came to blows. But, through it all and maybe because of it, I don’t know…my respect for her just kept growing.”
Tracy reminded Jason how it meant the world to Monica when he moved back into the house. She said he and Monica had a special relationship, but he recalled a time when it was more strained after his car accident with AJ. He lamented taking so long to understand that Monica loved him no matter what. After flashing back to a difficult conversation he’d had with Monica, Jason said he’d never used to care about what he couldn’t remember, but now he wished he had memories of growing up with Monica as his mom. He regretted not asking when he had the chance, but Tracy told him he could ask her because Monica told her practically everything.
Tracy said it took decades for her and Monica to become fixtures in each other’s lives, but for a while now, they’d been having tea every evening together and talked about anything and everything, including Jason. She told him that it hurt Monica deeply when Alan had his affair with Susan Moore and even more when Susan got pregnant, and that, when he was born, Monica wanted nothing to do with him. He was actually living in the gatehouse with Susan and Scott Baldwin. But one night, he got sick, and Monica was called in to take care of him. By the time she left the gatehouse, Monica said Jason was her son.
Britt went to the hospital to get her prescriptions renewed. At the nurse’s desk, she and Elizabeth had a contentious conversation where Britt referred to Rocco as Ben, said he was the boy she gave birth to, and that he was alive because of her. Since she didn’t have an appointment, Elizabeth put Britt on the list to be seen, but Britt was not happy about having to wait.
Britt said she was VIP and even had her picture on the wall. Elizabeth reminded her that it was actually a Memorial wall for people who were no longer with them, and she clearly was with them now. Britt felt she was being punished for not being dead and just wanted her medications. Elizabeth said she would get them when she called her name, but had to wait just like every other person who did not have an appointment. When Britt said she wanted to speak to the head nurse, Elizabeth let her know she was.
Later, Lucas was not happy to find out he had to see Britt. In the exam room, he reminded Britt that, legally, he wouldn’t be able to prescribe medication without examining her first. She told him she had Huntington’s and, in the time she’d been gone, had been taking an experimental drug which she no longer had access to. It had been three days, and she needed the meds on the list to keep her symptoms at bay. Much to her aggravation, he said he still had to examine her first.
After the exam, Lucas said he would write her the prescriptions, but was obligated to tell her that she did not exhibit any symptoms of Huntington’s. He didn’t presume she was lying but questioned the circumstances. Lucas told Britt there was one hiccup: he wasn’t sure if the undead had insurance plans. She said she’d find a way to cover it.
Next, Britt found out that Dr. Randolph and Dr. Robinson were there and barreled into their office, seemingly expecting to get her old job back. Terry said she and Portia were thrilled Britt was alive and back, but she’d been gone for two years, and her position as Co-Chief of Staff had been filled. Britt said she’d be happy to go back to her regular practice and specialty (OB/GYN). Terry let her know they couldn’t just hire her back, and the very fact that she was there with them was evidence of serious medical fraud. She said the hospital declared her dead and someone was responsible for carrying out that charade. Portia told her they were going to need more information about what really happened.
Britt couldn’t say much about the work she’d been doing except that it was top secret. Terry clarified with Britt about her employer insisting that she fake medical records and commit fraud. She said Britt was a good doctor and encouraged her to work at getting her medical license back and then apply to Mercy Hospital. It struck a chord with Portia when Terry told Britt she couldn’t get past the fact that she falsified records. Portia asked to have a sidebar with Terry.
Off camera, Portia and Terry consulted with the board before calling Britt back in the office. With the stipulation of a probationary period of a year, they agreed to offer her a position as an Intake Supervisor in the E.R. Britt said it was an insulting waste of her abilities, but Terry reminded her that she still had major steps to go through to get her medical license restored. She reluctantly accepted the position.
Charlotte and Lulu were at Bobbie’s. Charlotte had just been out putting up “missing” flyers for Outback. Lulu asked her how she would feel about going to see her father. Charlotte was confused because she knew her dad was in a maximum security prison, and they hadn’t even been able to speak on the phone.
Lulu briefly explained that Brennan would be the one making it possible and told her she didn’t know what he was getting in exchange. Charlotte wanted to go but worried about it being hard to see her dad locked up. Lulu knew it would be difficult, but assured Charlotte that, if she did decide to go, she’d be with her the whole time. Rocco arrived, still dejected by not being able to find Rocco. They had a nice talk as a family for a bit before Rocco and Charlotte left again to find Outback.
At the Quartermaine stables, Cody told Outback she couldn’t spook the horses and needed to figure out how to coexist with them. Molly arrived and was immediately taken by the adorable dog. Cody let her know that he was keeping the dog a secret for now because he didn’t think he’d be allowed to keep her.
Molly had actually come to apologize because she felt bad about telling Elizabeth about him being a part of Kristina’s plan to break Ric and Ava up. She thought it was gossipy, and she shouldn’t have said anything. He pretended to be really upset for a split second, but then let her know that it was no big deal.
After being overly worried about the Qs finding out about the dog, Molly assured him that the Qs actually loved him and probably wouldn’t care about him having a dog. She reminded him that not everything had to be a maneuver, and the only person making the situation hard right then was him.
Gio went to Sonny’s house to ask for money to use as a reward incentive for someone to find Outback. Donna answered the door and asked how her favorite nephew was. Sonny said they were having a family cookout. He made sure Gio knew he was welcome to stay, but didn’t want to pressure him.
When Sonny asked him what brought him by, Gio, a bit nervous to ask, said he needed $10,000 to put up as a reward for Outback. Sonny, of course, immediately agreed. When Gio said he would find a way to return the favor, Sonny told him he could do that by sticking around for the cookout. He said he would give him the money either way, but encouraged him to spend time with family.
Kristina and Dante arrived. Gio agreed to hang around for a little bit after Donna asked him to “please” stay. Sonny, Gio, and Donna went outside to cook, which left Kristina a minute to talk with Dante. She encouraged him to relax and enjoy being around Gio by just taking baby steps and not worrying about getting to the deeper stuff yet. On the patio, they all sat and talked. Dante thanked Gio for helping Rocco find Outback and told the PCPD was on the lookout as well.
