Here’s your General Hospital recap on what happened in Port Charles today, Thursday, September 25, 2025.
What happened on General Hospital

At the Q mansion, Ned stood in the foyer looking at a picture of Monica. He fondly recalled a conversation with her from around the time of their affair. Olivia joined Ned. The two shared a private moment of grief before Chase, Brook Lynn, and Dante arrived. Saying he had to talk with Michael, Chase left for the church. As the others readied to leave, Tracy came down the stairs seemingly prepared to say goodbye to Monica.
In his room at the hospital, Drew sat in a wheelchair and was struggling with his tie when Martin arrived. As Martin fixed Drew’s tie, Drew told him that he was going to his mother’s memorial. Martin tried to get Drew to reconsider his unwise decision, but Drew claimed not to care what his family thought of him or if they didn’t want him there.
Regardless of how things ended between Drew and Monica, he said she was his mother, who accepted him the minute she found out he was Alan’s son. He claimed to regret not returning the last call he got from Monica and for losing sight of how important she was to him. He adamantly declared to Martin that he was not going to let his anger for his family stop him from saying goodbye to his mother.
Martin said he wasn’t questioning Drew’s right to be at the funeral, but did question if it was what Monica would have wanted. Drew was confident she would have wanted him to be there and that they would have reconciled if they’d had more time. He felt she would not have called if she’d given up on him, believed they loved each other, and said she was the only mom he ever knew.
After fondly recalling a couple of special moments with Monica, Drew’s mood switched back to anger. He maintained that the Qs kept him from Monica, but he wasn’t going to let them keep him from her Celebration of Life, and he was not going to let Jason pretend like he was Monica’s only son. Martin pointed out how angry Drew already was and told him to ask himself, “Is showing up at that church really about Monica, or is it just another way for you to screw with your family?”
Elizabeth arrived at the church early to see if Jason needed help with any last-minute details. As they talked, it was mentioned that Sonny and Carly (out of an assumed respect for Monica) would not be at the funeral. Jason lamented the pain he caused Monica by choosing to stay away from the family for so many years. Elizabeth felt that everything in the past made living with the Quartermaines for the past year that much sweeter for Monica.
Laura hugged Jason and offered her comfort when she came into the chapel. She let him know that her mother (Lesley Webber) was unable to attend because she was sick with a bug and unable to travel. Laura recalled when her mother and Monica made peace with one another, and in the end, her mom thought of Monica as a friend, despite all their past differences.
Guests continued to arrive. Lulu hugged Michael and talked about what an extraordinary woman his grandmother was. Stella and Portia expressed their condolences and warm thoughts to both Jason and Michael. Jason greeted Lucy and Felicia.
Felicia talked about how much she enjoyed visiting with Monica at her house. She appreciatively said, “When Maxie had her heart surgery, it was Monica’s hands that gave my daughter new life.” Lucy rambled in her self-centered style, but eventually said that Monica was a brilliant doctor whose family mattered more to her than anything else.
Back in the chapel, Lulu talked with Laura, who’d been asked to speak during the service. Laura said that she and Monica had been through so much together, but recalled a specific memory of speaking with her while Monica was recovering from surgery in the hospital.
In the foyer, Gio arrived and asked Jason if it was okay for him to be there. Gio said he wasn’t there as a member of the family, but was there for Monica, who welcomed him before even knowing he was actually part of the family. As they were talking, Dante and Brook Lynn walked in. Jason left them to talk. Dante welcomed Gio to come in and sit with them, but he politely declined.
After Gio walked into the chapel, he went directly to Lulu and hugged her, which was hard for Brook Lynn to see. Dante felt that Gio being there was progress. Ned, Olivia, and Tracy arrived. Tracy paused at the doorway to the chapel. After seeing Stella, who gave her a reassuring nod, Tracy found the strength to go in. They all sat, ready for the service to begin.
Ned began the service to honor Monica Bard Quartermaine. He said Monica was very specific about not wanting her funeral to be a sad occasion, but one where friends and family gathered to remember her and celebrate her life. He spoke of his gratitude for the years he had with Monica and how she was the anchor of the family. As Ned went on, Tracy and Olivia each recalled a key memory with Monica.
Everyone was taken aback when Ned revealed Monica had written a final note she wanted read: “To my dear friends and family”, it said, “thank you for being a part of my life. I have so many beautiful memories of all of you, and I hope you do too. Please share them with each other and be happy. I’m sorry to leave you, but I’ve had a wonderful life that I truly loved, just as I love all of you.”
Elizabeth was next at the podium. She talked about her grandmother, Audrey Hardy, being a colleague and close friend of Monica's, as well as how amazing she was at the hospital. As she spoke of Monica’s love and compassion, she recalled the memory of finding out Monica knew about Jake.
Laura spoke next. She shared that she met Monica when she was 15 and a candy striper at the hospital. As she went on to talk about the family and Edward’s respect for Monica, Tracy recollected a supportive conversation she had with her after Edward had a heart attack. Laura was the first to really talk about how much Monica had lost in her life: her son, AJ, her two daughters, Emily and Dawn, and her husband, Alan. She said Monica’s losses alongside her battles with breast cancer and alcoholism served to deepen her compassion for others.
As Laura continued to speak, Felicia remembered visiting with Monica when she was battling breast cancer and giving her a homemade card from Maxie. Laura said she would miss Monica with all of her heart but knew she would live on in her family and in her legacy at General Hospital.
When it was Tracy’s turn to speak, she found it too difficult to move from her seat and didn’t feel she could do it. Ostensibly to buy Tracy more time, Lucy impulsively got up to speak. Lucy said, over the years, she and Monica had been called acquaintances, rivals, and most probably enemies. She claimed to have a unique perspective on Monica Quartermaine, however, and felt everyone should know it.
Some of the attendees looked mortified and worried about what they were about to witness. At first, Lucy talked about how amazing it was to work with Monica for the Nurses’ Ball. Then, she went on to talk about them fighting over Allan. She said, in the end, Monica and Alan always came back to each other because they were the loves of each other’s lives.
Lucy said that what they could learn from Alan and Monica was that love didn’t look the same to every couple. She said they all knew true love when they saw it, which led Dante and Lulu to look at each other from across the aisle. Finally, Lucy said she wasn’t happy Monica was gone, but was happy she and Alan were back together again.
When no one else moved to speak, Jason went to the podium. It seemed to hit Gio a bit when Jason said Monica took him in as a baby and became his mother. He talked about the faith and trust Monica had that he would find his way back to her. As he said he did just that, he flashed back to Monica telling him, “No matter what has been said in anger. You are my son, and I love you very much.”
Jason lamented the time he wasted not understanding that Monica loved him for who he was. He felt she loved everybody in her family unconditionally. After he thanked everyone for being there, he turned back to the coffin, looked up, and reflected, “I don’t think I said it enough, but I love you, Mom. I love you.” After Jason sat back down, Tracy, who still didn’t want to speak, told Michael the family wanted him to be the last one to talk.
Michael thanked everyone for coming. He shared that no matter how busy his grandmother was, she always made time for him throughout his life and always made time for his own kids as well. He considered himself lucky to have spent so much time with Monica over the past few years and felt she would never be gone as long as they remembered her. Michael concluded by inviting everyone to help remember and celebrate Monica by joining them back at Monica’s house. The reverent moment was interrupted when Drew threw the doors open to the chapel and stared down Michael and others as if he were ready for a fight.
