Since the arrival of Marco Rios on the General Hospital canvas in the spring, there has been an air of mystery about the young lawyer played by Adrian Anchondo.

Marco met Lucas Jones (Van Hansis) at a convention in Florida and later ended up in Port Charles working for Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) and Diane’s (Carolyn Hennesy) law firm. In between, he was revealed to be the son of Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota).

While Sidwell has been doing philanthropic things like sponsoring the General Hospital Nurses’ Ball and investing in Deception, people have questioned Marco’s connection to his potentially dangerous father.

On his Instagram recently, Anchondo teased fans by saying something big could be happening to Marco soon. He captioned the post, “Things are starting to heat up for my character on #generalhospital and I can’t wait for you to see why I love playing him so much 🥰 See you in Port Charles! Catch up on @hulu ❤️”

In the post, he showed clips of scenes he has had with Rota, Hansis, and his General Hospital onscreen mother Eva LaRue (Natalia Ramirez), as well as Tanisha Harper (Jordan Ashford).

He had numerous fans praise Marco and his acting performances.

@ghsundayshift said: “Walking into every room like a boss”

@zattanny commented: “You’re doing great! Love the chemistry with Lucas and your relationship with your father. And like (how) you’re mixing it up with others (Alexis, Diane, Brook Lynn).

Marco has been open about the identity of his father to his employers and to Lucas during their budding romance. Marco has also explained that he has had the same difficult relationship with his mother Natalia that his half-sister Blaze (Jacqueline Grace Lopez) has, as both have had problems getting their mother to accept their homosexuality.

Marco has been involved in his mother’s legal problems since her recent DUI arrest, and is concerned that Natalia could be caught between Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and the acting district attorney, Justine Turner (Nazneen Contractor), trying to take him down.

So far, Marco has shown no evidence of having the same criminal tendencies as his father. When he discovered that Alexis had transferred money out of the Cassadine trust fund (to give to Ava Jerome), he questioned Alexis about it and cautioned her that it might be seen as money laundering. But he didn’t threaten to turn her in.

Marco has been involved in other stories as well, researching Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) for Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton), which will likely make him a part of the story when Thiebaud returns to General Hospital this summer.

Sidwell has been a good citizen lately, but that may be beginning to change after Sonny turned down his offer to buy Sonny’s part of the piers. This week’s General Hospital video promo showed Sidwell holding pictures of Gio (Giovanni Mazza) and Kristina (Kate Mansi) as he contemplates going after Sonny’s family.

Marco told his father on June 24 that he supports his father’s attempts to buy Sonny’s property and reduce Sonny’s influence in Port Charles. Sidwell promised Marco that he hoped he wouldn’t have to get his hands dirty to get his hands on the piers, and he was intrigued when Marco told him that Sonny may not be a problem much longer. Marco, referring to Justine’s interest in taking down Sonny, told his father he couldn’t reveal what he knew.

Marco was talking to his father like a lawyer there, but if Sidwell does threaten Sonny’s family, we may get to see Marco in a dilemma and see how he really feels about his father’s criminal activities.

We also may be able to see what Anchondo means by "starting to heat up.” Will Marco’s relationship with Lucas take a big step forward, or will he get involved in his father’s battle with Sonny?
