General Hospital's Fans react to the lack of surveillance cameras in Port Charles

On General Hospital, fans are asking how it is possible for people such as the Quartermaines not to have security cameras everywhere. Is this a plot hole or deliberate scripting to maintain mystery?

It’s not what you know, but what you can prove in a court of law, isn’t that what we are told? Is a lack of cameras to catch the many misdeeds that regularly occur in Port Charles something that should be taken up with the security firms? Let’s look at what happened with the case of the ‘Edwards gun’. Fans of General Hospital were on the Soap Central Message Boards reacting to what they think is a ridiculous oversight.

dedicatedsoaper –– So they know it was Edward's gun. That means someone took it from the house. It doesn't necessarily mean it was someone who actually lived there. But it was someone who knew their way around it. How is it not possible for the cops to have the security camera footage pulled for the last few months to see who was roaming around? We already know Willow snuck in and out of there. Michael hasn't realized that since she was sneaking in and messing with Sasha and the baby, it's also possible she snuck in and got the gun? They must have cameras outside somewhere to cover the grounds. I know they mentioned that the person knew where the cameras were, but that doesn't mean they could go unnoticed.

sometinsimple23 –– It's the most ridiculous thing that NOBODY in town has cameras. The Qs have murders, kidnappings, stalkers, drug planters, etc, all the time...yet NONE of it is on camera. The only thing a camera caught was Willow boinking Drew. Drew gets shot twice in his own home, and he also has NO cameras. Does GH not know that everybody (even non-millionaires) has cameras in their homes?

Rogue –– Many people who are on fixed incomes have the Ring camera, and yet the Qs don’t have anything, makes no sense.

militarymom –– The worst is the hospital nursery not having cameras!

nikki75056 –– Sonny is always protecting his family, but none of their businesses have cameras. Lol

soapfan21 –– Even if I were rich, I wouldn't want cameras EVERYWHERE. I am barely comfortable having them at my point of entry, and the only reason I did that was because someone broke into my house once.

Obviously, we are going to need something other than concrete proof to pin this shooting on someone. What are your thoughts on this? Do you have a working theory?
