General Hospital fans will have to wait an extra day to see their favorite Port Charles pals as the soap is pre-empted on Monday, January 20, 2025, for coverage of the presidential inauguration.
ABC's inauguration schedule

ABC will begin coverage of the inauguration of Donald J. Trump as the 47th president of the United States at 7 AM EST on Good Morning America. At 9 AM, ABC World New Tonight host David Muir takes over for the bulk of the day.

According to ABC.com, "Coverage will include reporting on Trump's visit to Capitol Hill, the swearing-in ceremony and inaugural address, the signing ceremony in the Oval Office, as well as the inauguration parade and more."
ABC viewers can also expect special editions of World News Tonight and Nightline during evening hours. You can also watch inauguration events on the network's 24/7 news streaming channel, ABC Live.
The inauguration festivities have been moved inside the Capitol due to cold weather, and all living former presidents and vice presidents are set to attend the event, marking the peaceful transfer of power in the United States. This year's inauguration, which is constitutionally mandated to be January 20, also falls on Martin Luther King Day.
CBS is also pre-empting The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful, while Days of our Lives will stream as always on Peacock.
When General Hospital returns

When we last saw GH on Friday, January 17th, Tracy (Jane Elliot) had just been arrested for keeping Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) and Michael's (Chad Duell) kids, while Carly (Laura Wright) had just asked a now-awake Michael to choose whether he'd like to go to German clinic to treat his burns. Ava (Maura West) had also asked Ric (Rick Hearst) to get her temporary custody of her daughter, something he didn't think would be easy.
On the Tuesday, January 21st episode, expect to see Tracy remain stubborn and refuse to tell Marty (Michael E. Knight) and the police the location of Willow's children. Meanwhile, Willow panics and asks Drew (Cameron Mathison) if her little stunt forbidding Carly and Sonny (Maurice Benard) from seeing Michael backfired and cost her custody of her kids.
Poor Sonny will continue having chest pains, especially when Ava stops by his office at Pozzulo's and begs him to hand over custody of Avery to keep her safe from whoever is after Sonny. Will Ava even notice that Sonny is having heart issues? Tune in Tuesday after a day of inauguration activities on Monday to find out.
