Former General Hospital star William deVry has continued to work steadily since his character, Julian Jerome, was killed off nearly five years ago.

The actor announced his latest project this week on his Instagram Stories, saying he will star in the movie Spill, which starts principal photography next week. He captained a post “Looking forward to taking part in this.”

Former General Hospital has stayed busy since character's death

The movie, a thriller, has the tagline “A single mistake unleashes nonstop tension.” The movie stars Sofia Unal, with deVry listed as the second lead, plus Herbert Morales and John Senese.

The movie is directed by Blake Ridder, who has directed and acted in numerous films over the last few years, including the upcoming full-length feature Manor of Darkness.

Since leaving General Hospital, deVry has had several other acting roles. He guest-starred on episodes of NCIS: Los Angeles and Quantum Leap, and starred in TV movies A Whitewater Romance with Cindy Busby and Christmas at the Chalet with Teri Hatcher.

William deVry took on the role of General Hospital’s Julian Jerome in 2013. Julian was using the alias Derek Wells, pretending to be a media executive while hiding the fact that he was really the boss of the Jerome crime family.

He played the character until late 2020, when Julian died after a battle with Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), which ultimately sent Sonny to Nixon Falls with no memory. Before Sonny found him, Julian had set the bomb that destroyed the Floating Rib, putting Lulu Falconeri (then-Emme Rylan) into a coma and killing two characters: Dev (Ashton Arbab) and Dustin Phillips (Mark Lawson).

In addition to GH, some of deVry’s past credits include Cedar Cove, Hemlock Grove, Beauty and the Beast, Earth: Final Conflict, Nikita, Stargate SG-1, The Outer Limits and NCIS. Before heading to Port Charles, he also played Tim Dolan on Port Charles, Michael Cambias on All My Children, and Storm Logan on The Bold and the Beautiful.

When he’s not acting, deVry does a lot of work supporting ovarian cancer research. He regularly promotes the Sandy Rollman Ovarian Cancer Foundation, which raises awareness about the disease and funds for research.

A native of Montreal, deVry, 57, is participating in special Ovarian Cancer Night events at two Major League Baseball games in September, one at the Los Angeles Dodgers and another at the Philadelphia Phillies.
