From soap star to surfer: General Hospital's Ryan Paevey invites fans to pick his next role

After several years away from Port Charles, Ryan Paevey is set to make his highly anticipated return to General Hospital, reprising his role as Nathan West. After his exit in 2018, the actor has remained busy and built a nice, successful career making Hallmark films. On social media, he’s regaled his fans with his passions, including travel, photography, motorcycle riding, and surfing. Now, as news of his soap comeback spreads, viewers are eager to see how Nathan’s reappearance will shake up the lives of Maxie and the rest of the West/Scorpio family.

Manifesting a life beyond Hollywood

On Instagram, General Hospital star Ryan Paevey wrote, “No dream role, just a dream life. Surf Travel Adventure Butttt, if you could pick a dream role for me, what would it be?” @valerie_lynn_peli had an interesting response, with, “Totally not really what you’re asking, but I think you have a soothing grandpa-like voice and I’d love to hear you read storybooks like Goodnight Moon and the Velveteen Rabbit. Maybe a YouTube channel where you read books for kids who, for whatever reason, don’t have a parent to read them a book. This is coming from a book nerd and mom who read to her kids for many years. It’s so valuable.” The actor humorously responded, “@valerie_lynn_peli not sure I’m quite ready to be described as grandfatherly, but thanks? Haha.”

He also included a video in the post where he said, “What is my dream role? My dream role is to be independently wealthy and travel the world and surf all the time. How do we make that happen? Are we making that happen right now? Could that be a thing? That should be a thing.” His next words were a little perplexing, as he stated, “I worked really hard. I'm tired.” But, he remained on track, continuing, “Let's go surfing. I don't know, man…I don't have a dream film and television role, honestly. I would love to do something adventurous on a set or off a set. Can we manifest more adventure? Let's do that.”

@danajilllarson had a great answer for the General Hospital star’s question, with, “How about a remake of Romancing the Stone with you in the Michael Douglas role? I rather like that for you.” Several fans loved the concept, and Paevey responded, “@danajilllarson, I love that movie…” @ljubica_nklc loved his post, adding the comment, “We have the same dreams: lots of adventures and traveling the world. I manifest every day and believe that we can succeed,” to which Paevey replied, “@ljubica_nklc not a bad dream to have.”

A fan going by @gigi_basset_mom gave a great answer with the response, “A movie role with you surfing, rock climbing, and other adventures. Where you do your own stunts.” General Hospital's Peavey gave the surprising response, “@gigi_basset_mom I always try to do my own stunts, especially if it’s surfing.” Other wild possibilities were tossed into the thread by fans, including @tinekaz, who gave the uproarious response, “You should be the next James Bond,” and one from @candiarealtor who suggested, “A Magnum PI or Miami Vice-ish type show where your playground and your work backyard are one and the same.”
