Fans of General Hospital will remember Linda Purl as Peyton Honeycutt — the sharp, polished socialite from Jacksonville who locked horns with Carly Spencer over a gravesite and, by the end, softened just enough to reveal the ache beneath her elegance. Now, the actress and singer is trading Florida humidity for New York lights. She’s got a special performance coming up that blends her musical roots with reflection, humor, and a dose of hope.

General Hospital alum Linda Purl told Digital Journal she’s been lucky to have the same creative team by her side for more than 16 years. Each new show starts the same way: with an idea, a pile of songs, and the three of them wading through until a story takes shape. “Over the past 16 or so years, I’ve been oh so lucky to have the extreme talents of Musical Director Tedd Firth and writer Deborah Grace Winer as the team to build our shows,” she said.

This year, that story turned personal. “There has been so much on our hearts and minds about our changing world,” Purl explained, who also appeared on The Bold and the Beautiful with real-life love, Dallas alum Patrick Duffy. “Do we ignore all that? Do we face it head-on? Is there a role as artists to offer coping mechanisms?” The answer, as it turns out, is all of the above. What she’s bringing to The Green Room 42 is a collection of moments — part reflection, part release — with arrangements that promise to be, in her words, “kick ass.”

Expect music with texture, humor with heart, and the kind of honesty that makes you sit back and breathe for a minute. As Purl puts it, the show is “a healthy dose of humor, a dollop of facing what we’re all dealing with and a whole bunch of hope and fun.”

A creative life in motion

Even as she preps for her show, Purl’s days aren’t slowing down. The former General Hospital star just wrapped a six-month theater tour across the UK with longtime partner Duffy, and has a new book, A Peek Behind the Curtain – An Actress’ Life on the Road, coming out November 18. The book chronicles that tour — the mishaps, the miles, and the laughter that followed them across 20 venues.

When asked what keeps her inspired after so many years in the business, Purl didn’t hesitate. “That there is always something new to learn. Always. The journey is never ever finished,” she said. It’s the kind of sentiment that fits perfectly with her cabaret — not about finality, but about finding joy in the in-between.

Purl says the November show is about connection — that moment when the lights dim, and strangers breathe in the same rhythm. She hopes audiences leave a little lighter. “There is nothing like the energy of a full house,” she stated.

General Hospital can be seen weekdays on ABC and Hulu.
