Since exiting General Hospital, Marcus Coloma has kept himself plenty busy. From fan events to red-carpet appearances to projects in the works, he’s been making it clear that stepping away from Port Charles didn’t mean stepping out of the spotlight. And now, the fan-favorite has given followers a cheeky glimpse behind the scenes at his audition setup — proving that when opportunity knocks, your living room can become a studio in seconds.

He let the fans in on his method

General Hospital alum Marcus Coloma wrote on Instagram, “Audition Set Up.” He also included a video in which he said, “The self tape. It started with this guy, portable, not quite wide enough, not quite tall enough. Kind of hard to put away. But this beauty. Oh yeah. Little monopod lights, and it's showtime.”

In the clip, Coloma demonstrated his upgraded home setup. He first showed his old, portable backdrop, the kind that is coiled up like a spring and is difficult to fold back into its compact shape. He then pulled up a larger grey backdrop and set up his monopod with a microphone and lighting gear. His final act was to hilariously demonstrate an audition video in which he is badly overdubbed in an unintelligible foreign language. The former General Hospital star was clearly ready to nail his next self-tape.

Fans could feel his pain

The comments section lit up fast, with fans mixing humor, affection, and a little nostalgia. @stdipiet wrote, “This backdrop would be the answer to my prayers — my living room could retire from its side gig as a self-tape studio!” and @sullimimix6 chimed in with “👏👏👏👏.” @marcuscoloma_world couldn’t resist a joke of their own, writing, “My iPhone keyboard just updated to French, Spanish, and whatever else Marcus Coloma just spoke = MC Mode 2.0.”

Plenty of General Hospital fans simply showed love for the moment. @rodneyrogers1 commented, “The Prince Marcus Coloma is a talented breath of fresh air,” and @kat10981 sent a kind, “Nice setup! Wish you the best of luck.” @maggie.lemelin.5 added, “Colours become you, very nice,” while @dragon_of_the_west_7 shared their own setup story, laughing about a folding backdrop that once “popped out and nearly hit me in the head.”

Many comments were a mix of heart emojis, inside jokes, and good-natured confusion over his multilingual moment at the end of the video. @annmmoore1958 wrote, “All I caught was Bon Jour and Caca. Next time, Marcus can shop here in David’s house of photography. Borrow and return in a year.” @travelsbyhollie admitted, “I have that exact one that folds. I HATE it.” And @debbie.abel.7 said, “Hahahahaha… dammit, I miss this guy.”

The vibe in the thread was pure fun — fans laughing with him, sharing their own self-tape disasters, and reminding Coloma just how much he’s missed. Whether or not this particular setup lands him his next big role, one thing’s for sure: Marcus knows how to keep fans smiling. (Check out Coloma’s spin on Shakespeare.)
