Eva LaRue is wrapping up her run as General Hospital's Natalia Ramirez this week as the complicated character is ushered off the Port Charles canvas.

Fans were excited when All My Children veteran LaRue was cast in the role of Blaze's mother last year, but the character's blatant homophobic tendencies didn't help win the audience over. Instead, Natalia was persona non grata with fans vert early on. LaRue understood the situation, telling Soap Opera Digest that she saw Natalia's end coming months ago.

"I started to feel it in January," she said. "They tried to rehabilitate my character and then all of a sudden, I have these scenes in January where, because Natalia had lied about her ex-husband [Sidwell] and broken his trust, Sonny was like, 'We can’t be friends anymore. And I thought, 'Uh-oh, there we go, because that [relationship with Sonny] was kind of my character’s only lifeline."

LaRue only expected her GH run to last a few months, and not close to a year-and-a-half, and is glad for the time she got to spend in Port Charles. In fact, it was like a mini All My Children reunion. LaRue brought Maria Santos Grey to life in Pine Valley. Even Executive Producer Frank Valentini had done some work on AMC and was friends with LaRue's late ex-husband, John Callahan (Edmund Grey).

She loved "seeing everybody every day, seeing Finola Hughes [Anna Devane] every day again, like when she was at All My Children, and Cam [Cameron Mathison, Drew, who played AMC’s Ryan] and Laura Wright [Carly] — Laura used to be across the hall at Loving [where she played Ally]...I’ve always been friends with Nancy Lee Grahn [Alexis], and it was just great having that family, you know? Visiting that family every day was really great."

While Natalia's last airdate has not been revealed, Soap Opera Digest confirms that it will be this week. The last time we saw Natalia on the June 30th episode, she had passed out after taking pills while drinking alcohol, something that can be a deadly combination. Her son, Marco (Adrian Anchondo), was on his way over to talk to his drunk mother before she left for Belize, but will he be too late?
