General Hospital honors Tony Geary by re-airing Luke's last Port Charles stand

On July 27, 2015, General Hospital's Luke Spencer walked off into the fog and onto a boat at the Port Charles piers, and we never saw him in Port Chuckles again.

While we did see Luke in an Amsterdam cafe in 2017 when Tracy (Jane Elliot) walked in, it was a surprise cameo appearance with no lines. However, GH plans to re-air that 2015 special episode on New Year's Day, in honor of Tony Geary, who passed away last week at the age of 78, according to TV Insider.

During that episode, an emotional Luke chose to leave Port Charles after a traumatic year in which an alternate personality took over, known as Fluke. Eventually, Luke learned many of his psychological issues stemmed from an incident as a teenager when he accidentally killed his mother, before killing his abusive father in self-defense.

After that, Luke's older sister, Patricia (Chloe Lanier), sent him and Bobbie to live in Florida with their Aunt Ruby. Years later, Luke and Bobbie both returned home to Port Charles to start their adult lives, which is when the Luke Spencer, as well as the Luke and Laura (Genie Francis), phenomena were born.

After becoming whole again and rescuing Lucky from Frank Smith after one last adventure with Laura, Luke left for Amsterdam, as did Geary, who spent the last decade of his life in his second home with husband Claudio Gama.

Luke's lasting legacy

In 2022, Tracy appeared on Laura's doorstep to announce that Luke had been killed in a cable car "accident" in Austria. Tracy and Laura threw Luke a farewell celebration filled with memories on the Haunted Star, before scattering his ashes. Ironically, those ashes ended up in Scotty Baldwin's (Kin Shriner) face, the same way he had caught Laura's bouquet at Luke and Laura's wedding all those years ago.

In 2025, Luke's ladies remain at the forefront in Port Charles, with Laura, Tracy, Luke's daughter Lulu (Alexa Havins), and Luke's niece Carly (Laura Wright), leading stories. Sonny (Maurice Benard) recently reminded Laura of how she and Luke beat Frank Smith multiple times, so she can surely win against Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota).
