He shared touching final scenes with both Laura and Sonny, his ex-wife and best friend, respectively. While he did make a short cameo appearance in 2017 when Tracy found him in an Amsterdam coffee shop, 2015 was the last time Luke was in Port Charles. In 2022, Luke was declared dead after a streetcar accident, and his ashes were scattered in the Port Charles harbor. Since then, Laura and Sonny have maintained their friendship, which is a story at the forefront this year as Mayor Laura has defended her relationship with the town mobster from detractors. On State of Mind, Francis discussed the current story, which the actress has loved playing."I love this story that they have given us," she said. "They asked me one day, ABC asked me what I wanted, and I said I want a story with Maurice Benard. And from that, they put together a brilliant story that I’m loving so much."Catch all-new episodes of General Hospital weekdays on ABC and Hulu.
