General Hospital fans were touched at the end of the Tuesday, January 6, 2026, episode when a graphic featuring legendary actor Anthony Geary appeared, reading, "In Loving Memory of Anthony Geary." It was a brief moment when we could see the smiling actor posing at a Daytime Emmy awards ceremony. That graphic was just one way in which the soap has honored and plans to honor the iconic star.What General Hospital plans nextABC production executive Nathan Varni featured the same graphic in a tweet, announcing another upcoming tribute to the actor."Our team is working on a loving montage to be included later in the month, keep an eye out. RIP #TonyGeary," he wrote.Fans immediately asked if a special episode might also be planned for later this year. While Luke Spencer already had a funeral after his off-screen death in 2022, there could always be another reason to remember the character. The soap never revealed who was really behind the foul play that led to Luke's death. Luke walked off into the fog and onto a boat for nowhere on July 27, 2015, and was only seen on screen again one more time. In 2017, Tracy (Jane Elliot) walked into an Amsterdam cafe and spotted her ex-husband. He smiled without saying a word, and we are told that Luke and Tracy spent the next five years together, until his untimely death in a cable car "accident."Geary also lived out his final years in Amsterdam, where he moved after his 2015 retirement. In 2019, he married his longtime partner, Claudio Gama, who posted a video of the actor watching Genie Francis (Laura Collins) on State of Mind with Maurice Benard in November of last year. The actor passed on December 14, 2025.Geary played Luke Spencer off and on from 1978 to 2015, while also bringing Luke's lookalike cousin, Bill Eckert, to life from 1991 to 1993.
