Jonathan Jackson just popped back into General Hospital not too long ago and reminded everyone what the show looks like when Lucky Spencer is in the room. It wasn’t some grand conquest. It was more that familiar character returning for a minute, the kind of reprisal that was way too short for the fans. But he’s been super busy in real life, and recently teased a major new project.General Hospital’s Jonathan Jackson calls it his first true solo record View this post on Instagram Instagram PostJackson wrote on Instagram, “Happy New Year! My new album ‘Under The Skies of Babylon: Volume One’ comes out tomorrow, Jan. 6! You can pre-order today and listen to all the tracks tomorrow. The first song, ‘Opening Curtain,’ is already available.” He then explained where this project fits into his overall body of work, noting, “This is my first solo record… I’m excited to share it with you all! Much love! Link in bio and on Facebook.”He attached a video to the post in which he echoed the same message, adding that it’s been several years in the making. The GH star also added, “It's more vocally focused, you could say, a lot more piano, and orchestral in a sense. Big shout out to Bill Deaton, who I worked with, on this record, and, really excited to share it with you guys.”Jackson further noted that the single he released is “Connected to a 4-volume series that I'll be releasing over the next few years, as well as a novel called ‘The Bastards of Babylon’...so check it out.” (Find out why Jackson really returned to GH.)Fans hear “album” and also hear “Lucky”General Hospital's Jonathan Jackson as Lucky Spencer. | Image Source: ABCThe comment section showed fans fully supporting Jackson’s endeavor as @tbui321 wrote, “Hey, Jonathan! Happy New Year to you as well. I'm so happy to know I can grab the album tomorrow… ‘Opening Curtain’ is on constant rotation in my playlist.” @denisebenek added, “Happy New Year!! Congratulations on the new album, can’t wait to hear it.” And @ilonawor brought some long-haul energy: “It’s so wonderful to be on your journey for almost 20 years already now.”Some people steered the conversation toward GH, with many asking him when he would return to the beloved soap. Others integrated their appreciation for his new project with their soapy enthusiasm, as @eaglenme commented, “Happy New Year!! Congratulations!! Good to hear you are taking care of yourself and moving forward. Can’t wait to hear it!! Good luck! Coming back to GH when!?”And then you get the practical questions, because fans are nothing if not organized. Some asked where else they can get it besides Apple Music, and whether CDs or USBs will be available. And one even said they wanted it on vinyl. Which, honestly, feels correct for a project this ambitious. That was the overall fan mood: excitement for the music, and the ongoing refusal to stop asking about Port Charles. As if the album’s great, yes, but also…where’s Lucky?General Hospital can be seen weekdays on ABC and Hulu.
