On General Hospital, Cody Bell (Josh Kelly) made a momentous decision in the August 25th episode, when he was caught kissing Ava Jerome (Maura West) by Molly Lansing-Davis (Kristen Vaganos).
Cody instantly told Molly that he wasn’t into Ava, and confessed to both of them that he was only romancing Ava because Kristina Corinthos-Davis (Kate Mansi) paid him to.
Both Molly and Ava are mad at Cody on General Hospital
Cody didn’t know that Molly was visiting him at the stables to ask him out on a date after advice from her cousin, Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson). Ava left Cody at the stables in disgust, and a confused Molly joined her soon after, leaving the Quartermaine stablehand with two women annoyed with him.
Kelly gave an interview to Soap Opera Digest about this latest development. The article was published on August 25th after the episode aired.
“Out of left field, (Molly had) been treating him kind of meanly,” Kelly said to SOD. “So he thought, ‘Well, I guess she’s not into me.’ But when she catches him with Ava, the way she reacts, I think that Cody subconsciously starts to think that maybe there is something there. And he likes her, and he doesn’t want to hurt her.”
Kelly said that the fact that Molly now knows Cody’s feelings for Ava aren’t legitimate may help the cowboy and the assistant district attorney get together eventually. He spoke a lot about that in the interview.
When Molly left the Quartermaine stables, neither she nor Cody knew that Ava was going to run into Molly’s father, Ric (Rick Hearst), and confront him. And they have no idea that Ava hit Ric on the back of the head with a weighty sphere, with Kristina, who is also Molly’s sister, witnessing it. Cody left the stables to comfort his family as Lucas Jones (Van Hansis) and other General Hospital staffers prepared to transport Maxie (Kirsten Storms) to a coma facility in Boston.
Ric’s prognosis won’t be updated until the new General Hospital episode of August 26th at the earliest, but his injury may provide Cody with an opportunity to comfort Molly as her father faces his second major medical crisis of 2025. Maybe Cody will still be at General Hospital if Ric shows up there.
Whether Ava’s latest assault comes to light or not, Bell, who has been on General Hospital since 2022, told SOD that his character definitely fears the gallery owner and former mob queen. He knows that Ava has shot one of Cody’s favorite people, Olivia Quartermaine (Lisa LoCicero), and killed others, including Olivia’s cousin Connie Falconeri (Kelly Sullivan).

“In the moment (of his confession), he’s not thinking about what Ava may do. That moment is him getting clarity as to what he actually cares about it and it’s Molly. Cody cares about Molly more than money, so it’s refreshing,” Kelly said in SOD. “He’s probably going to double-bolt his door when he goes to sleep for at least a couple of weeks.”
