General Hospital's Kate Mansi is just getting started

Just when Kristina (Kate Mansi) seemed to have learned a valuable lesson on General Hospital when she almost killed Ric (Rick Hearst) and Ava (Maura West), she hired Cody to seduce Ava and break the couple up. She’s such a busybody who can’t seem to control herself, although she claims she wants to. As her character deals with all the trouble she keeps causing, Mansi opened up about the wonderful things going on in her life.

Being underestimated is her superpower

General Hospital star Kate Mansi shared a post on Instagram with casting director Kendra Castleberry, CSA. Castleberry wrote, “Today I am spotlighting Kate Mansi, an actress who has already achieved so much in her career but who is still excited to push beyond expectations and challenge herself with new roles (in front of and behind the camera). Having worked for many years in soaps (she is currently nominated for her 2nd Daytime Emmy Award, and has already won once), Kate has developed an incredible work ethic and understands the power of trusting your instincts and making strong choices. She is also an advocate for prioritizing one’s mental health and seeks to always find the balance between work and play.”

She then posed some questions to Mansi and shared the questions and answers in the post. The first question asked if the General Hospital actress had any memorable audition stories. Mansi explained that during COVID, casting directors felt she was too “girl next door” for a role she wanted. But she was determined to prove them wrong, “because my favorite thing is being underestimated.” She changed her look to appear edgier and recorded a gritty self-tape scene in a motel with no makeup, delivering the raw intensity she imagined.

“It was the fastest I’d ever heard back from a tape,” she remarked, noting that a sports psychologist gave her some guidance, helping her to learn how to trust bold choices, and that part became her favorite role to date.

Say ‘Yes’ to new challenges

The next question asked what her favorite role was, and she cited the character Hunter Clarkman from the TV series Casa Grande, which is about farm families in Northern California. The General Hospital actress then stated that if she were to talk to her younger self, she would advise her to “Say ‘yes’ more.”

Mansi also stated that she’s just beginning because she wants to appear in a project in the action genre since she has had extensive dance training. “I’m also currently studying directing,” she enthusiastically shared, adding, “and looking forward to my first comedy short film I’m doing in September.”

While General Hospital fans responded that they loved her and enjoyed her take on Kristina, Days of Our Lives fans also vied for her to return to the soap as Abigail. Clearly, she’s very beloved!
