General Hospital star Maurice Benard has had some great success with his YouTube interview show, State of Mind. Through it, he’s shed light on mental health and helped to spread awareness. He’s been so successful that he even won an award for the work he’s done. Just when you thought he’d done everything in terms of creating an online show, as well as his live video posts, there’s one thing he did recently for the first time.
There’s a first time for everything
On Instagram, General Hospital's Maurice Benard posted a video unlike any he has done before: he live-streamed while driving. He tried to keep his special guest under wraps, but accidentally gave it away and even revealed in his caption who it was.
Benard had started his live stream at what looked to be a cafe, then went to his car and put the phone in a place where he could continue to drive safely while simultaneously talking to his fans. He continued talking to the fans while getting in, hysterically saying, “Let's see where I can put you guys.” He put the phone somewhere on his dash, muttering, “I don't think I've ever done this.” Of course, when it didn’t work he uttered, “You son of a….” and continued trying to find a stable place for it. He reassured his fans that it would be taken care of, as he said, “Okay, hold on people, hold on people. I'm gonna get this, I swear.”
A sneak peek

He finally got the phone stabilized and began driving. He explained that he would be taking the fans to see the studio where he shoots State of Mind, and that there would be a special guest there that he was going to keep a surprise for the time being. Along the way, he got frustrated with other drivers. At one point, after realizing he just needed to hold the phone instead of planting it somewhere, he remarked, “Oops! Almost got hit.” He continued driving and talking to the fans, and answered their questions, reassuring many that he was driving safely.
The General Hospital star eventually got to his studio and before going in, stated, “You're gonna be the first to see my studio, my whole studio live. I've never done that. So tell your friends. Tell your family. Tell your animals, we're going to see Sonny's State of Mind studio.” He then gave a brief visual tour, pointing out the painting of him that a fan had given him. Then he sat down, and the surprise guest — who was to appear on SOM — entered, and it was Eden McCoy, who plays Josslyn.
Getting back to Benard’s caption on his post, he wrote, “@edenmccoy the best,” thereby giving away the secret before people could watch the video. Co-star Lydia Look (Selina), as well as General Hospital alums Marcus Coloma (ex-Nikolas) and Vanessa Marcil (Brenda), all sent heart and loving emojis.
