General Hospital’s Sawandi Wilson shows off his voiceover versatility

Ever since he first appeared on General Hospital, Dr. Isaiah Gannon has been turning heads. He had a steamy, secret thing going on with Jordan (Tanisha Harper), but she had to break it off because she’s working undercover to take down the villain Sidwell (Carlo Rota). He recently had a thing, kinda sorta starting with Portia (Brook Kerr), but she seems to be getting a little unhinged from all of her stress, so he’s wary of moving further with her. But in real life, his portrayer, Sawandi Wilson, has been stealing people’s attention for a very different reason. He recently gave his followers a peek behind the curtain at his other passion: voiceover work.

From the booth to your living room

General Hospital’s Sawandi Wilson shared a video on Instagram, captioning it: “From the booth to your living room. National VO commercials have been some of my proudest career moments. I've been blessed and incredibly grateful to do them in English &Spanish. A Special thank you @stewarttalentnewyork, @stewarttalentlosangeles, & @annaeilinsfeld 💬 Drop your favorite commercial you can still hear in your head below 👇.”

In his attached video, Wilson took viewers through a typical day in his VO life. “I have been blessed to work on some really cool voiceover spots,” he began, and segued into several clips of his commercials. “I never get to show the BTS,” he continued, then he visually appeared in various cities, remarking, “Well, I am recording at Awesome Studios today, and VO in person in LA,” then, “I'm in New York, and this is everything that I do in a day.”

The General Hospital star then took viewers through a typical day with, “So here's what I do to prepare. First things first, get some tea, get some green tea. Then I'm going to do some vocal warmups. I look like a weirdo. I feel like a weirdo when I do it, but it helps to enunciate, helps me feel warmed up. Then I will get to the studio. And…it's go time. Time to play.” His warm-up clips were great fun to watch.

The scenes then intercut, spotlighting him doing his voiceover work in several instances. “I might be saying the same sentence a million different ways, but I wouldn't trade it for the world. I love voiceover,” he gushed, and the video ended on one of his Spanish-language commercials.

Fans praised his work

The post brought in a wave of support from his General Hospital castmates and fans. Co-star Kristina Wagner (Felicia) lovingly commented, “Amazing! You’re so cool,” while Josh Kelly (Cody) reacted, “So cool, bud!” Fan, @marydecicco, joked, “You gotta add in the HMM HMM sound! Right @snowstorminc ??!!” @lisa_marieloca01 wrote, “WOW, great gigs!
