It's been a rough year for General Hospital star Cameron Mathison, as he lost his home last January in the California wildfires. However, he has come through it with a positive attitude and a look toward the future as he celebrates his 56th birthday.
Cameron Mathison makes his mark on daytime

Cameron Mathison was born on August 25, 1969, in Ontario, Canada, and graduated from McGill University with a degree in civil engineering. After college, he began modeling, which eventually parlayed into acting. In 1998, he landed the role of Ryan Lavery on All My Children, a part he played until the ABC soap left the airwaves in 2011.
When not on soaps, Mathison has had a double career as a television host. He turned his correspondent role on Good Morning, America into a weekend co-anchor position with Entertainment Tonight. Mathison also hosted Hallmark's Home & Family, starting in 2018.
Mathison has been a member of the Hallmark family since 2014, appearing in multiple movies throughout the last decade, including co-starring with Days of our Lives' Alison Sweeney in the Murder, She Baked series. He also hosts the new game show, Beat the Bridge.
Mathison is also a devoted dad to two young adult kids, and recently shared a fun video of himself and his daughter before her fall college return.
Life as General Hospital's Drew Cain

In 2021, Mathison joined the cast of General Hospital as a recast Drew Cain and has certainly put his own spin on the character. As the writers have turned Drew from a hero into a villain, Mathison has embraced the role of a smarmy politician whom almost every Port Charles citizen now reviles.
However, that doesn't mean that the actor has not been surprised by some fan reaction to Drew's new personality and has spoken about it multiple times, including when a fan threw produce at him in the supermarket.
Drew's enemy list just keeps growing as everyone from Stella Henry (Vernee Watson) and Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) to Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota) and Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) wants to get a piece of him. However, making an enemy of Natasha Cassadine, aka Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn), was the wrong move. He's about to make things worse for himself this week when he presents her with a restraining order to keep Alexis away from her granddaughter, Scout (Cosette Abinante).
Soap Central wishes Mathison a very happy birthday and many more.
